Mine stayed in Indiv mode all the time (or the last mode I had it in). However prior to switching out my exhaust, I still had to put the car in "S" mode. No matter what setting you have it on, I think the RS defaults to "D" mode. Even if you have your settings set to dynamic for the exhaust mode (under individual), the flaps are still closed up every time.

Which is precisely why I got a valveless exhaust! Was pretty loud no matter what mode I was in. Didn't wanna drive it in dynamic/sport mode just to hear the exhaust. I think there are some other ways of keeping the valves always open (in the trunk area) with the stock sports exhaust , but didn't wanna mess around with that.

The only part of Dymanic mode that isn't in place when I start my car is the transmission. It will always default to D instead of S, but that doesn't make a difference to me since I drive in Manual mode all the time anyway. My exhaust still farts when I shift. This is on a 2013 S5, which I've been led to believe behaves similarly to the RS.

Have a 15 and even if I put it on individual with valves always open. Once car is shut off and locked, once I start the car individual is highlighted but not selected. This goes for any setting I previously left it on. Only work around besides getting a valve less exhaust is go inside the trunk and disconnect the vacuum hose for the valves to always be on. Down side is you will see a pop up stating a issue. Not sure if there is any vcds to disable that.

If you just disconnect the vacuum lines, there's no popup that you speak of. If you don't mind your valves being open 100% of the time, just do that. Previously when I just had the stock sports exhaust, I disconnected mine as soon as I found out about it. However when I got the Capristo installed, I plugged it back up and enjoy the quiet mode in the early mornings.

In my cold start , my valves are open on my Capristo. I'm always in Individual and exhaust is set to Auto.

The one workaround that I have been using to get the valves to stay open during a cold is turn the car on but in accessory mode first. From there I will cycled through the drive select until it lands on dynamic mode again (even if my last mode prior to shutting off was dynamic mode) and then start the engine. There you will have your lovely cold starts with the valves open. I would imagine the same will work for individual mode if you have your exhaust setting in dynamic.

thats actually good to know. I assume it is the vacuum tube you disconnect. Not the wiring.

that is correct. Leave the wiring and the plug the way it is, just disconnect the tube on one end and seal the opening with a small cap or just tape it up.

This default to regular D mode when you start has to be to do with the official fuel consumption numbers. To get those they need all the planets aligned and getting to D7 by 30mph is one of the bigger planets.

The flaps will be open for a second as the vacuum builds up to close them, but as many here do as the starting ritual - tap it down into S and push right into M, I don't even notice I'm doing it.

Haha yeah right, so there isn't really a way to do it without changing mufflers.. I just really like the capability to have it sound off its head then go to zero noise when cruising home late night when it's just chill out and listen to some tunes haha. That Bose does a good job! 👍

    Cheers guys

in individual mode with the open valves setting , after turning it off and then starting up again, the valves are closed even though it is still in individual. however, if you cycle through the drive select once and get back to individual, the valves open again as originally programmed
