APR tune question ( Arin perhaps )

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi guys,

I will be loading the APR tune on my RS 6, in the next few days. I need to know if the APR dealer reads my stock file and then does he keep a copy of it ? If at any stage that I would like to return to stock, will he load my specific file back, or will a generic file be loaded ?

    Thanks for the assistance.

Here is a pic of my RS 6 :

And a pic with my RS 3 and RS 6,

Per what I know your specific file should be stored on their servers. Regardless , holy fucking smoke.. kick ass cars.

Your APR dealer will be able to flash your car back to stock if need be. Not sure if things are different across the pond, but we've had to flash a couple 4 liter cars back to stock to go to the dealer and never had an issue. Enjoy the tune, sir. Its going to wake that car right up... as if its a lazy pig as it sits now

Can someone explain to me why Mercedes and BMW bring all their AMG and M products to the US, and Audi brings only a trickle of RS cars from time to time.

    Hi Hascall,
My dealer says that he needs a dim sport tool to read my ECU. I thought the APR tool would read the ECU. Please could you let me know the protocol. Many thanks.

I have some details for ya. I don't want to high jack the OP's thread but since you asked. Stage 2 with the K04 kit, melted a plug in cylinder 3 bad enough for a piece to come off and ruin that cylinder, my APR dealer contacted APR and they told him to flash it back to stock and it will reset the flash counter and put everything back to stock. The APR dealer came to my house, flashed it back to stock and then I took it in. The Audi dealer plugged it in and it was tagged TD1. APR has been horrible to deal with and no, flashing it back to stock doesn't mean Audi won't know it's been programmed.

The stock file on your car is used by many others, so for all of the RS6s in existence, there are only a handful of stock files. Other information about your car that makes it unique, is stored elsewhere and remains untouched.

We have each of these stock files on hand for the tunes we offer. If we don't have one, we get it before we ever issue software (it's required we do so). If you ever need to go back to stock, we can flash you back to stock at any APR dealer across the world. Nothing special needs to happen. They just need to flash it with the stock software on our server.

Point there is that flashing back to stock does not guarantee the car won't be flagged. We've talked about this, and Arin, I believe you're appropriately acknowledging this when people purchase from you. I know the local dealer here is making sure to do so.

Could it have been flagged since you had an upgraded turbo? That is probably obvious to any tech working on the car.

No, it was the tune. I know the service manager.

As far as cooling, nope, I'd did what was recommended by APR at the time of the install and a bigger inter cooler wasn't needed.
