My first car was a 2001 Audi a6 . Amazing car, loved it. I bought it around 35k miles and it was great right until 100k then anything and everything you could think of started to break. So I sold i, since then had bmw and the most recent was Mercedes. Why am I going down memory lane ? Well when I had the Benz it was great but some asshole cut me off, and caused a accident. So I said its time to go back to my original love Audi. I have just recently bough the 2015 Audi A4 and am trying to do some small minor upgrades. When I look at the posts here, I see many people having problems with their cars like car won't back up, leaks, throttle response which already gets me scared, I say to myself maybe their older cars with a ton of mileage on them. I post a couple of questions about my upgrades and all I get back is snobby remarks no help at all. Are all Audi owners also rude ? So none helpful ? I'm going to the dealer tomorrow because of a small problem with my car at 3k miles already, I really hope that the help isn't like what I'm experiencing on these forums. With my Benz, it seems like people were 100 times more helpful. Just an observation here. And I'm not the only one noticing that either. When I was browsing the forums I saw a couple people say that responses were rude.

Most of the rude responses are because of people being lazy and not looking for an answer before they ask for information on even the most basic question. You can find the answer to almost any question you have using the search forum link. If you are stumped then ask away, you will normally get an answer, but it it's on a subject that's been discussed at length then get ready to put on your flame suit because it's gonna get heated.

Yeah you'll find most people on here are more interested in proving you wrong on something and trying to make you look stupid than just being friendly and giving their input on stuff

theres a lot more info on previous threads if you do a search first before starting a thread -- google > audizine and insert keyword. guaranteed hits. its very unreasonable for someone to start a thread thats been discussed over and over --- that the pet peeve of this forum.

everyone here has been really helpful with me, pretty solid group of people.

Generally speaking if you are well intentioned and listen to the advice given to you, you will not be met with rude responses. Most of the rude responses people get are when they do something that is going to get negative attention. Putting the wrong badge on your car does nothing for anyone except make you a liar. Also being lazy and not at least attempting to find an answer to your question first is irritating. For example I think if we see one more thread asking how to make your car faster... Let's just not have that happen.

I agree with the OP to some degree though...even if something has already been posted about, maybe they didnt know if they're a first timer. I usually like to message them directly and try to give an answer and also let them know that they can search the forum for more threads on the topic....instead of posting something snarky. People who make a thread about something already discussed usually doesn't bother me since some threads can really huge and stale. The S4 badge on an A4 and things of that nature grind my gears though...

I couldn't disagree with your comments regarding this community any more than I already do. I find that the large majority of people on this forum, and the Audi community in general, have been very helpful. Maybe I have just been lucky. That aside, I think it is reasonable that many members would like to see you put forth some effort to gather the information you desire prior to simply creating a thread; especially when there are many threads that have already documented your issue. Call it accountability; don't be an affluenza type.

I forgot to mention this though....i too have found people to be incredibly helpful. I personally have never had anybody reply with anything nasty. I started off knowing just about nothing a few years ago and through all the knowledge senior members provided me...I feel very comfortable with most aspects of my car

Well one of my questions was about xcarlink installation. I came to the forum, I searched for xcarlink, (looking for installation help) I did find some posts and went over them. I saw a post with install tips and pics but unfortunately the pics were a little older and not viewable anymore. So I make a new thread stating that I seen the original one but the original pics weren't viewable. People give me the same link again .

Window tint. I saw the official window tint thread. Mostly everyone posts a pic and says percentage but doesn't really say where they got it done. And Im in NJ so I'm trying to find a place near me . So

I ask people in nj opinions about a good window tint place. Opinions, places , good prices, just some input. I get this http://lmgtfy.com/?q=window+tint+ewing+nj
If you don't know, don't answer. If your pissed by this thread don't say anything.

Welcome back! If I lived in Jersey I would be more than happy to help with a tint spot. Good luck and know that not everyone is an asshat on this site. Now let's see some pics of your new ride.

If your looking for a tint shop around you it's best to go to the regional forum section. You don't have to have a b8 to help with tint.

Tint good place to start.... Next step would be a good coilover and swaybar installation.. Enjoy better handling while keeping a good degree of warranty on your new car....

There are lots of experienced drivers and long time AUDI owners. We all have a love hate relationships with our cars. I have spent a lot of money on my cars from VWs, Audi's and Porsche.. Cars break down no matter what. Audi has come back manufacturing some amazing cars. I have decided to order the car the way i want it and drive it. I had to replace my engine on my A4 abut a year ago, oh well shit happens. I love the way my car drives with the minor stage 2 ecu upgrade and exhaust. I get tons of compliments all the time..

There is lots of information on this forum and even if you just google audi questions, you will be directed to some post on this forum. I am guessing that is why some of us get frustrated seeing people ask questions without even going thru the past posts.....

The 2015 A4 is a great car. you will enjoy it... cheers.....

As a forum user of multiple marquees (Duramax, Porsche, Tacoma), I would say that this forum is not really any worse than others. Those who blatantly refuse to use the search feature get blasted no matter where you go. I would say that the level of sarcasm/satire is higher than most but not crazy. Don't judge the whole forum by our response to that idiots post about "Pedal Responce" he/she was a complete moron and brought things 100% on themselves. Honestly I would have never believed that the level of idiocy displayed by that individual had I not witnessed it first hand...

I also think the level of knowledge/support for a particular car in a forum is directly related to the age of the car. Rennlist is a hardcore Porsche forum and the level of knowledge for the older cars is insane. I had an 87' 944 prior to the Audi and I could always find info via search or detailed help via a post. The car was also 28 years old so the owners have had a long time to play and break/fix the car. As the cars get older and people become more comfortable and experiment more with fixes/mods - the level of knowledge will increase.

To be clear - I am not saying users on the B8 forum are not smart, the cars are basically brand new and cost a lot of $$ so there has not been as much time to figure out all the ins and outs of them. Quite the contrary - I had no idea about VAG-COM prior to coming on here. Via the search option I was able to learn all about it and then have friend with the VAG-COM system come over and I changed some coding myself. I did have to spend quite a bit of time reading though but the info was on here and the users were helpful and knowledgable.

With the xcarlink when they referenced the link that wasn't helpful - did you respond with "thanks I did look at that before posting but the pics got deleted"?

I would also say that as a new user your time on the forum should really be split 90/10 - 90% reading/absorbing info (lurking) and 10% posting and only if necessary.

Not sure why you are bitching here? I just went back and read some replies to your posts. There were people giving you friendly advice. Further, regarding XCar Link, I found them to be pretty good with customer support if you e-mail them, they should reply with answers to your questions. As I replied to you on that thread, I took my XCar link to my Auto Electronics guy along with the supplied instructions and he set it all up for me.

As far as tint, after doing my own personal research, I chose to go with Llumar which you can only have installed by a Llumar authorized shop. You can locate the dealer(s) closest to you here:

I think our section is full of a lot of really helpful, bright and funny guys. Sometimes things get harsh, but most of those times, it's not unwarranted.

Yeah, a few people go over the line, but they are a small % of us and well, mostly Vonn.

Reading through your threads, I see a few snarky comments, yes.
But, it looks like you got several helpful replies on each thread you made.

Roll your eyes at the few people that post like that and embrace the good comments and feedback you get from most people on here.

All I'm trying to do is some small upgrades that would make the car look OEM+ . Nothing crazy

Why is it that noobs have to start a new thread? They claim to do the research but come up empty from a thread covering the topic.....why not ask the question IN THAT THREAD, rather than start a new thread with your question.

Reference OP: So I make a new thread stating that I seen the original one but the original pics weren't viewable. People give me the same link again .
