Hi, I need some help guys car is a 2002 b6 a4 1.8t 5sp quattro. Right now it has 98k miles. clutch is stock and never been replaced before. Before all of this i wasnt sure if i needed to have my clutch replace. the clutch pedal biting point was so high it was almost up there. I never had to change a car clutch until now. I have only done clutches on motorcycles. Anyways as for me east coast we were hit with a big snow storm. I might have burn a little of the clutch while getting out of snow. I smell burn something and it has been like that for two days now, not that strong but with the help of wind you can smell it. Now to get going the clutch biting point is to the tip have to give more gas now or i will stall. clutch doesnt slip as far as i know but maybe a tiny bit.

Do you guys think its time for me to replace the clutch??
What parts or kits do i need? I seen some clutch kit like the "RA4 Clutch Conversion - Stage 1" which includes the Lightweight flywheel
and some dont like https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B6_A4...tch/ES2725055/ do i need the flywheel would you guys recommend?

what brand would you guys recommend. I heard RA4 Clutch Conversion is good and south bend clutch. This is for daily sprint driving. If i get "RA4 Clutch Conversion kit" is this all i need for a whole clutch replacement?

    Thanks!

question, out of the whole burn clutch thing is my transmission affected in anyways??

    Kudos for wanting to upgrade!

I have the ra4 in my sedan and I highly recommend it. Will put one in my avant too someday.

I would do some inspection first. Audi's generally have a high clutch engagement, but it sounds like yours is very high. You could have air in the hydraulic line, or something messed up with the slave cylinder or slave rod seating in the clutch fork. I would look into these first before you go crazy. Modern clutches do not need to be adjusted for wearing down like old ones did, so there is really no telling if it is simply worn out, but it could be the case that it is so worn out that you have lost enough material to make a difference.

    And no, transmission is fine.

The stock clutch is a self adjustable clutch. It stays that way till it goes out. As redline said it could be a few different issues. The fluid needs to be flushed every now and then. If it hasn't in a while I would go ahead and start there. Some say you have to have a power bleeder but I've done it without.
