    * DO NOT GET YOUR CAR SERVICED HERE *

This place is an absolute joke! I cannot believe I went from being a loyal BMW owner to an Audi owner to have to deal with this crap. I never had any issues with any of the BMW dealers like I am having with this Audi Dealer. First off their Service Advisors have NO knowledge of a basic car and its functions. They are simple ticket writers and check cashers. I have a 6 month old SQ5 that should not have any issues and of course it does.

I brought my car here for a few reasons.

    1) Drivers seat makes noise under acceleration
    2) Audi Side Assist Malfunction
    3) Rear Hatch Malfunction
    4) Transmission Malfunction

After a 2 day evaluation they tell me they have to order new parts for the seat which are not in America. As far as the other issues they told me they could not help me until the car was back to stock. So I pick up my car and come back a week later with the stock intake on. They now had my car another (3) three days just to fix a seat? They gave me the run around because my SQ5 has an exhaust system... Yeah and? I bought an Audi (S) for a reason. They said sorry your car still has exhaust we can't touch it. I have never had any issues with my modded BMW's or Lexus in the past. My exhaust system has nothing to do with electrical problems.

This dealer is not "MOD" friendly by any means.

Their Service Advisors have no clue what functions the car has and their shop foreman said for anymore work to be done I had to remove my exhaust? I asked why did it take 3 days to fix my seat (They had no answer for this)

This dealer will never see my business, nor will any other LACARGUY dealer.

Total lack of knowledge of product, I have no idea how they can get good CSI scores.

    One word... JOKE!

I will be writing Audi North America to explain to them my frustration.

That's a real bummer, they're right down the street from me. Why the heck did you bring your car to these guys, they've gotta be out of the way for you! I tried to give them my business on both my audis and their sales team sucked so bad I had to go elsewhere. Went to circle Audi for one car and flew out to Arizona for my other!

Is there a service advisor who is mod friendly at circle Audi? By mod friendly I mean intake, exhaust, suspension.

I'm not heavily modded, but Charles Alatorre has been pretty flexible with anything I've ever had & will most likely work with you.

Ok, lets all boycott Pacific Audi. I'm game, no Pacific for me.

Truth is, AoA is putting major pressure on its dealers to crack down on modifications. My understanding is, AofA can make it extremely difficult for the dealer to receive reimbursement for warranty work.

I believe they have their dealers quite worried . I know for a fact this is also happening at some of the other dealers mentioned in this thread.

Your case sounds short sided however, unfortunately, the logic is, if you have a visible custom intake and exhaust, big brakes and lowered suspension, then you might very well have other hidden modifications.

It is illegal for them to deny you warranty service for unrelated issues though on your car. I agree, what does an exhaust have to do with electrical issues.

Disappointing they would treat you so rudely. I was actually thinking of taking my car there for the PCV warranty recall on the same day I have my maintenance done nearby at Eurocode.

I guess things changed since the last time I used Audi Pacific. I had an AWE exhaust when I was getting work done there under CPO. I've taken my car to Commonwealth Audi in Santa Ana for an engine rebuild for oil consumption and they fixed it under Goodwill. Even had an allroad as a loaner car for 2 weeks while their doing the engine rebuild.

AoA should be very careful these days. They migh lose more then they think. With the vw scandal they are involved too, and the game is still on, along with the penalties.
(dont get me wrong, i dont think vw diesel is a bad engine, i would still buy it, they bluffed and someone called it.)
AoA blocking ppl getting parts from Audi Tradition for older cars while BMW and MB support it, not a cool thing just like forcing dealers to be anti mod friendly.
I think they should grab every opportunity these days to push their numbers. and just wait to see the new sales numbers...
Audi’s November 2015 sales in the U.S. managed to rise only 0.4% to 16,700 vehicles. (previously this number was around 10-11%)

Technically they have to fix you http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0138-auto-warranties-routine-maintenance

Depending on the issue you may have legal grounds for them to fix it. They have to prove that it caused you issue too i think.

Thanks so much guys for all the support! It has been really overwhelming to be honest, i'm not use to being treated so rudely. We should start a list of Audi dealers in So Cal from first to last when it comes to service experience.

After doing a lot of reading it does look like they cannot deny to fix it regardless if I have an exhaust or not. It clearly has nothing to do with electrical issues or my transmission.

I really hope their manager sees this and how much business they are going to lose. People on Yelp lately have been saying how bad the Service Department has been lately. Looks like I will be going elsewhere... Sigh

It's absurd to think that an exhaust can cause electrical issues (unless it melted some wiring, which is physically impossible for seat wiring lol). Obviously, if you had put springs/coilovers on a car and brought it in because there was an issue with a suspension component, that would make sense. But in your situation, there's obviously no reason your mods are the source of your issues.

Another reason why I stay away from dealers and do my own work lol.

I won't be back to that shit deanship after this experience. They make me want to go back to BMW which is sad. I understand convenient but I would never take any car I owned to this place. I will let you know once I hear from another dealer. Hopefully they fix the problem or I will just sell this car and move on.

I use The Auto Gallery in Woodland Hills. My SA is Scott Gomez and I've never had any problems with him. I had some noise in my front end and AoA said they wouldn't cover it as it only took labor to fix the issue (no parts replaced), but he pushed back and I didn't pay anything.

I have an appointment this morning, I will let you guys know how it goes.

P.S. Pacific Audi called me about my review wanting me to take it down. They have also had a tone of 5 star posts just for service over the past week. They are trying to get my review on Yelp bumped. SHADY!

Is your appointment there at Pacific? Did they contact you to bring your car in to make things up? Or just to get you to take down your review? Either way, good luck and let us know how it goes!

Man I hate hearing about things like this. When has an exhaust ever caused a part failure?

I took my bagged Q5 there before I worked there and they took care of it. I had broken motor mounts and they covered it under warranty. There are actually a lot of people that bring there cars here tuned and everything is fine. Francisco and Abel are younger and I think understand that tuning doesn't ruin cars.

Bottom line is you are a customer and you should be treated well. No matter what you've done to your car.

Sorry you had a bad experience here man next time reach out to me and I will make sure you get treated well!

So I took my car back to Audi Pacific in good faith allowing them to fix their mistake. They had my car just over a week and were able to fix the problem. It needed a new fuel pump among other things having to do with the fuel system. I guess this is a known issue with the SQ5. I have deleted my negative review as I told them I would. Although my first experience was not a pleasant one, they did in the end decide to fix my car.

I spoke with the Service Manager for a while and he had informed me. Audi is really cracking down on MODS. ECU flash immediate warranty revoked, luckily I did not have my ECU flashed. He also told me the way Audi is going with aftermarket parts and it is not looking good for us guys. Might have to stick to the independent Audi shops moving forward. Sigh..

Audi can crack down all they want but in the end the law is on our side. I can understand an ECU tune voiding your warranty but an exhaust and intake are by no means cause for voiding warranties unless you installed a blocked intake or a severely restrictive exhaust. Below is information I pulled from MagnaFlows website regarding aftermarket exhaust systems.

WILL IT VOID MY FACTORY WARRANTY?

NO. It's also illegal for a dealer to deny you the OE warranty because you have changed the exhaust system. This is an often asked question. But you will need to be armed with some basic information.

Under the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act of 1975, 15 USC, 2302 and Clean Air Act 42 of USA code 7541, you have rights.

    This legislation basically states that:

In order for a dealer/manufacturer to deny a warranty on a claimed part, they must PROVE that the part YOU installed/had installed DIRECTLY caused the failure of the part on which you’re claiming the warranty.

What does this mean to you?
Let’s say you install a turbocharger to the engine. Could this void the transmission warranty? The axle warranty? The answer is “possibly,” as the increased stress to these components cause by the increased power output from the turbo could indeed cause your warranty to be denied.

What about a cat back exhaust system?
Since most high quality systems, at least those systems that are 50 state legal, are installed behind the catalytic converters, there should be no warranty concerns to other components, even emissions components. Most exhaust companies, including MagnaFlow, design their systems so that no modification is necessary to get the systems to fit. They will not trigger “check engine” lights unless there’s a leak in the system which almost always caused by an oversight during installation and they will not effect emissions. Remember: the engine creates the emissions, the exhaust system is the path from which they exit. A freer flowing exhaust will not do anything to inhibit emissions expulsion or to increase emissions output, all of which is controlled by engine management and the catalytic converter(s).

Any properly engineered exhaust system will not cause any failures of any other parts of the engine, suspension, chassis, transmission, electrical system, etc.

Of course, there’s a great deal to be said for the importance of having a qualified installer work on your vehicle. While MagnaFlow goes to great lengths to provide ample clearance of fuel lines, electric lines, brake lines, etc., like any part you’d install, if care is not exercised, there could be interference with equipment on the vehicle. That’s why we recommend using a MagnaFlow “Preferred” dealer to do your installation, unless you have at least some basic knowledge of working on vehicles.

In any case, the most important thing you need to know is that you need to be armed with this information. In many cases, dealers are just plain timid in doing repair work on vehicles that are even remotely different.

What to do if denied a warranty?
You MUST get the denial in writing and demand that they are very specific in why they’re denying the claim and in providing solid evidentiary proof in how the part you installed/had installed caused the failure for which they’re denying the warranty.

Next, contact the Regional Service Manager and of course, the manufacturer of your vehicle, mention the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act and document every word they say and retain copies of all paperwork. The problem is usually corrected here, as manufacturers know the law, dealers are just being cautions. Of course, some dealers are better than others and we’ve all had bad experiences. Use the internet chat rooms to seek out owners of similar vehicles to share their dealer experiences…its’ a powerful tool.

In most cases, when they realize that you’ve done you’re homework, the dealer and manufacturer will realize that they’re obligated to comply with the law.

i must also agree on this.

i had dsg service done and i recently drained out my fluids at another shop and the mechanic said they used regular transmission oil in my car! DSG fluid is green and this fluid came out amber.

they also reversed my downpipes when reinstalling my exhaust.
