Question rear parking sensor doesn't work during the winter

Since i had my 06 avant since November 2014 I thought the rear parking sensors never worked until sometime in the spring of 2015 they started working the majority of the time and then once winter came around again they stopped working again.

    How can I troubleshoot this?

Well I know it's spring now because the backup sensor is working again. still could use dome help figuring out what the issue is though since I'd like for it to work all year, nit just spring and summer.

You need vcds to do diagnostics on the sensors, this is the only way to sort it without swapping out sensors, the old ear to bumper/listen at each sensor may not apply to yours as its working intermittently & so could be a sensor/s or controller at fault.

The winter / summer thing could simply be a resistance issue, where cold is lower resistance (out of spec) warm in spec.

What okey said. I had a car that caused me grief in the winter due to moisture freezing on the sensor.
It could however also be a problem with an imperfect contact in the harness, when it's cold the metal
contracts and causes a continuity problem
