    New A4 Quarter Mile Record: [email protected] MPH (APR Stage 3)

    On Sunday, January 24th, we headed to Montgomery Motorsport Park to test our upcoming APR Stage III EFR6758 Turbocharger System in the quarter mile. The car was driven to the track in its currently daily driven form, on street tires, with 93 octane fuel and a full interior, in an effort to show real world results most customers will experience on a day-to-day basis. Several passes were conducted, resulting in record breaking pass after record breaking pass. Ultimately, Trevor@APR, the owner of the vehicle, was able to achieve a [email protected] MPH after cutting a 1.733 60 FT time!

    The fueling system was unmodified, resulting in power limitations below the capabilities of the turbocharger system. Temperature at the track during the record pass was roughly 50F, resulting in a density altitude of roughly -575 feet. Unfortunately, the negative density attitude did not result in a sizable performance benefit compared to running in warmer conditions due the fueling system limitations. However, beneficial to APR customers in warmer climates, the above results are still applicable.

    As temperature drops and air density increases, so does the need for more fuel to satisfied the air fuel ratios prescribed by APR’s calibration experts. To safely prevent the engine from running out of fuel in cooler conditions, APR’s calibration experts have calibrated the ECU to reduce boost pressure while targeting the same power levels. Conversely, during hotter conditions, the ECU increase boost pressure to make up for the loss in air density, ultimately resulting in the similar power output in a wide range of ambient conditions.

    Currently the turbocharger system slated for release in the coming months, which will include full details such as price, power figures, components, application guides, requirements and recommendations. The B8.5 platform, including flex fuel models, is also in development and on employee vehicles at APR and will be releasing around the same time. Fueling upgrades for higher output are being explored.

    Oh man that's nice! I can't wait to see what an upgraded fuel system would do.

    I have a 6 speed AT and this makes me wish I had a MT.

    Would a full decat instead of the 300 cell make a difference enough to add on a few more PSI? Could maybe help shave off a half second perhaps.

    We've seen no difference in power with this cat, compared to no cat, till a bit above 500 HP.

    I'm betting a ZF 8 speed transmission or DSG in europe should be able to do it, all else the same.

    A reduction in 60 foot with better tires, would probably get you there.

    Better "track" setup as far as suspension, tire pressure, etc, may do it.

    Lastly, weight reduction should get you there (Maybe even with just smaller brakes --- this car had big brakes on the front and rear).

    Looking forward to eating some unsuspecting American V8's.....Im not a patient person so this is gonna be hard waiting for it.

    would love to see that torque curve overlayed on the stock turbo stage 2+ graph. Are the gains across the whole band? Is the best no compromises turbo for the B8?

    That's the standing limiter with our motorsport hard limiter cut. You'll get it.

    from the graphs that were cobbled together in the 30+ pages of the stage 3 thread it looks like it may be a bit under stock or stage 1 in the first few thousand rpm and then goes way up for the rest of the power band but thats just a best guess given that the graphs had no scale and just some ms paint lines on them. Im interested to see what the final curves look like .

    Yea, but I'm sure Arin will tell you that it was not their call to gut the car...they only provided the software. Always good to see tuners extend the platforms. Just need to do the cost-benefit analysis. Sorry, I have no idea, but what does a stage 2 B8 A4 run right now?

    Our calibrators spent a long time doing accurate torque reporting within the ECU. With the work done, it allows for easy control over output. We can limit it wherever we see fit.

    I'd say low 13s, Maybe 13.1-13.3 range on a good day. Average maybe mid 13s.

    I applaud APR for putting in the R&D for the ERF kit. I like many, look forward to the completion and release of this kit. As wonderful is the 1/4 ET time, what has impressed me most thus far, is the trap-speed which the APR's setup makes. 115mph+, you're entering into some very exclusive territory; IE, M3/4, 911, DB7/8 just to name a few. From what Arin has mentioned, it seems as those this kit to go faster with the additional fuel. Keep on plugging away APR.

    Arin- Thank you for a tease. This is awesome. Def MK5 Golf R Stage 3/MK6 Golf R/S3 Stage1/2 Territory. Extremely happy. I'm sure we will see 11's someday. Especially since Golf R stage 3 kits have fuel upgrades. Not sure what you guys recorded for K04 upgrade but I've seen mid to upper 12s, So if we can shave a second off that, that's awesome. No 10 sec car, but still out of a 4 cyl, amazing. Cant wait to see pics......

    This is shy of amazing. This is a heavy car and to get that much power from a 2.0 is nothing short of astonishing!

    I'd be really proud to have a set up like this and it adds a 'dagree' of advancement for those wanting to add fuel. This can get to 11s.

    Sounds like he pegged the rev limiter then popped the clutch? If I try to launch my stock clutch, I spin it through 2nd gear (learned that once and haven't tried a hard launch again).
