I believe the overall look amounts to about 30% wheel design and 70% fitment.

So much fun terrain so close to us. I just had shoulder surgery today, but after I'm healed up we should hit the trail together. Oh, and I failed to mention, but the car looks stellar. Kudos.

About that for full recovery, but doc said I can start back to active stuff using discretion around 3-4 months if i feel up to it. But yeah, I'm hosed until 2019.

Ouch! Hope all went well with the operation. Definitely up for riding once you feel up to it, we can start with something easy to transition back in.

Fit and finish is great since theyíre OEM covers. The area surrounding the Audi Rings is gloss black. Debating whether or not to put something where the 3.0 TFSI was since thatís shaved off now.

What did you do to your Q/SQ5 today?

Dropped the trans pan and replaced the filter and did a fluid flush with ZF Lifeguard 8. I only bought 5L which was ever so slightly not quite enough. I topped it off with 1/2qt or less of Pentosin ATF1 which it likely going to be fine since itís so little in the scheme of things, even though itís not strictly compatible with the 8hp55. Iím sure it will be fine, besides it was all I could find locally at 8:30pm so that my wife had a working car to drive tomorrow.

It really shifts better already. The pan was somwhat dirty and the fluid looked fairly meh for 68k mile original fluid. There was quite a layer of metallic goo on the filter magnets so it was definitely worth changing. The real test will be if the wife notices the difference in shifting. The 1-2 and 2-3 shifts would often be pretty clunky and in my drive home from my friends the shifting seems very very smooth. This 8-speed trans really is awesome when itís properly lubricated.

Having almost 7-year-old, 68k mile ATF in your hair, however, is less awesome.

Swapped out the stock grille with an aftermarket RSQ5 grille. It was a perfect fit with no cutting. The seller stated I would most likely need to do some cutting but that wasn't the case. Super stoked at how it turned out. I'll need to fab a bracket for the plate. Although the grille came with a plate bracket that sat on the grille itself I didn't like it. It was fitted on my 2011 SLine

So just wanted to report again on my trans fluid flush. Drove a few hundred miles this weekend and the car drove amazingly well. The transmission was so well behaved, it really felt like driving a new car. I used to like the ZF 8-speed but with the new fluid and filter itís freaking amazing. All the weird low speed shifting issues are completely gone. Yea they were relatively minor, and as with any automatic, there are still situations where you can get a hard shift now and again, but man it drives so goddamn well now Iím super happy with spending the $200 and 4 hours doing the job. Just a fluid change would have taken an hour or so but we got hung up on figuring out what to remove from the trans to access the pan, then when reassembling, some nastiness on a bolt for the X-brace caused some cross threading. Luckingly those captive nuts are removable so we finally figured that out, pulled the nut out, cleaned the threads, ran an old subframe bolt through it and got it going through smoothly. That whole process killed nearly an hour but luckily we sorted it out.

But yea. If you guys are running up towards 70k or more, do yourself a favor and change the fluid and filter. It makes a massive difference.

Any special tools needed for this? Iíd like to eventually flush the trans fluid myself.

+1 on the ZF8 flush. Serviced mine in August at 68k and it was well worth it! Engages and shifts gears noticeably smoother and quicker.

Looks very sharp, if you need the front plate you can consider the bolt in tow hock approach. You can find it on amazon for cheap

I want to say all 6 bolts for the xbrace were the same. Might have been triple square or maybe just standard hex-head bolts, Iím not 100% on that.

This is on a 2.0t Q5 but I would assume the 3.0t and 3.2 are the same.

Nothing crazy. Just some sockets, a couple triple squares (I think 10 & 12mm) t25 and t30s and a small hex for the drain plug.
