Anyone try the ceramic paint coating? the one where it has to be heated to cure.

Looking into a big paint correction after winter. The salt up here is terrible.

Haha, well I've had a good 20+ sets in the past 5 years on my vehicles, so I'm kinda numb to it :P

This makes two very rare/non-existent wheel sets sealed up this week hitting SQs very soon!

Actually I am just doing something different with a wheel that they currently make. Not a new design but kind of is. You'll see what I mean.

Personally I expect it will give a super unique look to the wheels, I think everyone will love them. I hope they will add it to their line as an option for other people and my future wheels haha

Going to go with a 265/35R22 tire?

I'm still trying to decide if I want 265 with more aggressive offset or 285 less aggressive for a meatly look. Congrats though.

yeah 265/35 i think. i would go for a more meaty look but i'm afraid of hitting the top of the steering knuckle and don't want to risk it. I tend to shred tires fast so... if there's enough room and i want more rubber i might swap to wider tire.

I loved my hankook ventus V12's, and these are dirt cheap, so thinking for $600/set i will go with a set of hankook ventus ST RH06 in that size. I'm more worried about where to go to have them mounted, blergh.

With a 22", I found no better overall fit/look than the 265/35 on a 9.5 or 10. And the DWS 06 just released in that size, and that makes me super fawking happy! There really is not other way. 275/35/22 comes in like one Pirelli. I feel like if you want meaty, you better stick with 21" like my current.

yep... and if you want 21's get ready to pay out the ass for tires

DWS are nice and also very reasonably priced!! I wanna give the RH06 a run though. Brand loyalty to hankook... Last couple street tires i've had were hankooks and i was super happy with them.

yup me too. i had the first version also, and my truck had some hankooks (came stock) at first i was like huh? but nowdays i see them on all kinds of trucks. Dynapro or something. they lasted many many burnouts and showed seriously little to no wear, so i was impressed. only had it 6k miles but they did work.

I am reallyyyyy liking it. No for everyone, but the SQ pulls it off well. No rub at the rear, only front lol. I'll definitely be pushing the rears out on the BLKs.

Weekend is almost over-- I started by buying a set of these:

Matched with a set of Pirelli PZero tires in 285/40-20 flavor. They were hard to find but closest in dimension to my stock 21s. It will take a few weeks more but I'll soon schedule the install of the H&R -3 springs and Bilstein B8 shocks/struts to go on at the same time as the wheels.

In the meantime, I tried solving the door panel rattle problems from the stereo and road noise. I purchased a Dynamat Extreme door kit and applied only two sheets to the door panels. The door skins are fairly rigid and weren't a source of noise, but I should have one spare sheet after finishing the rear door panels

It was a PITA and I strongly dislike the VAG pin door clips, but I got it done. Door panel resonance and rattles are gone!

Thanks! Wheels are 20x10, ET25 in their brushed grigio finish, a tinted clear. I sort of wish I had done Brushed Stainless instead, but when it's all done, you'll have a local clone of Peppers ride. The pics he posted the other day caught my eye:

I'm going to do something cheesy and swap the center caps before they go on, just that I don't care for the AG center cap design.

Sorry about the dinner-- I had a prior engagement with coworkers to cheer on a roller derby team at Thunderbird last night. It was pretty fun! Was your dinner at North Main?

I need to do this for my doors. Now that I'm lowered on 22's I know Audi isn't going to help me out. Is there a DIY for removing the door panels posted somewhere?

Not that I've seen but it's fairly straightforward and requires minimal tools. Experience working with door panels or loads of patience will help you through it.

You'll need a good plastic panel puller (spudger), a T25 torx bit (preferably magnetic) and good shears or scissors to cut the Dynamat.

Start by rolling the window down, then use the panel puller to remove the door trim, working from the back of the door where the trim piece tapers. It's thick so you shouldn't break it but try to limit your pressure to the corner, working the farthest clip from the door handle. Once it pops out, use the plastic spudger to pry the rest of the trim piece out, working toward the door handle.

You'll see two T25 torx heads under the door trim piece you just removed. Extract those screws, then look for one just below the arm rest near the center of the panel, and one at the very bottom-center of the panel.

After removing all four screws, wedge your panel puller through one of the bottom corners of the door panel. Pull gently until you feel the pop clip release, then work your way to the other corner. As you pull the door panel out from the bottom, work the spudger tool up one side of the panel, then the other. You'll need to use some force to release the large clip toward the upper portion of the door. Grab the bottom of the panel and slightly twist it backward to help release the big plastic clip.

Once the door panel is released, pull back on the white collar that secures the door pull cable to the door handle. As you pull the collar back, it will release from the door panel, exposing the hooked section of the cable. Twist the cable to release the hook from the handle. Make your way to the wire harness holding the rest of the panel on, and release the harness clip at the door module to free the panel.

Reverse the instructions to install, making sure you've clipped in the door pull cable and door harness connector before placing the panel back on the door. Use a flashlight to ensure the plastic pop clips align with the door before pressing the panel firmly to the door. You don't want to align part of the panel while bending the plastic clips on the opposite side. The clips do not appear re-usable but seem to be fairly resilient. If you lose or break a few, I found a cheap set of replicas on Amazon that might save you a few bucks: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B610ZJ2

I didn't use a heat gun-- my garage was about 70 degrees today and the Dynamat was plenty sticky to work with. Hopefully I'll get more seat time tomorrow to validate my work.

I have used dynamat before, but put it on the metal panels. The time I did my () Prius, I did the front doors one day and could hear the road noise in the rear or behind me (since it quieted the fronts)- Did you notice this at all?

Do you think the additional weight of the DM is what stopped the panel from rattling? or did it add material and now has pressure on the clips to stop it.

Either way I like the idea. The doors must really sound nice when you close them.

I had an aftermarket system installed in my '09 Jetta TDI which included lining all of the doors and trunk lid with Dynamat. Dynamat actually stops the panels from rattling by adding mass to the panel making it harder to move, or rattle in this case. So yes, the DM stopped the panel from rattling by adding weight to it. Having all of the doors lined actually cut down on the road noise a bit and the doors felt more solid when closing.

    Decided on summer wheels. Finally.
Now just need to wait 6 weeks or so for spring time to install them.
