Lowering springs without shocks - non-sport

Hey Guys,

Any updates on anyone who's running lowering springs with stock shocks? any issues? how many kms have you gone with this setup?

I have a 2006 3.2Q with only 60k miles on it. Just wanted to put some H&R sports with the stock shocks to get rid of the wheel gap as I just picked up some 19's and the gap is horrendous.

Hello.
I have installed 40mm lowering springs from H&R.
Car feel much stiffer and better to drive. I recomend 30mm if you dont want it too low.

I've seen people do it like that, but most will agree to go with sports shocks and springs or coilovers because it's anybody's guess how long the stock shocks will last

SindreVjohnsen - I guess you have the "RACE" springs from H&R? , I am leaning towards the H&R sports.

I know its best to do shocks too but budget-wise i can't justify another $1000 into a 10 year old car, I am up in Canada and car parts are pretty pricey with the crappy dollar.

Not sure. I went to my audi dealer and said I wanted the car lowered. So they could offer 30-40 mm H&R. I can look in the papers that came with too check.

I ran H&R sport springs on the OEM shocks/struts for about 3 years and approx. 50K miles and experienced ZERO issues. When my car hit 80K miles, I switched my shocks/struts to Koni FSDs. All parts will cost you just under $1000. The labor is the wild card.

I've ran stock shocks on other cars in the past and never had any issues. The problem is you never know how much life the stock shocks have left in them. You can buy ST Coilovers for around 700. It would suck if you pay someone to put the springs in and the shocks go bad and you would have to pay someone to swap it out. The labor alone for both would be costly.
