What is the Material used in my 2003 Audi A4 Heated Grey/Platinum Seats?

    I have a 2003 Audi A4 1.8T with heated Grey/Platinum manual seats.

Can anyone tell me what is the stock material used in making the stock seat skin? Is it Leather, Pleather , or something else?

I'm thinking about repairing or making a new seat skin and want to make sure I don't melt the new material when I turn the heat on my seats(which I use a lot).

    Thanks...

I believe the middle is Pleather and the outside (bolsters) are leather. Not 100% sure though, i remember reading it somewhere.

It's the exact opposite. Center portion is leather. Bolsters are pleather.

I think you are right. My next question is :

If I replaced some of the Leather panels with Pleather , would the Pleather melt when I turn on the Heat for the seats?

I can’t speak from experience but I can’t imagine the seat heaters would get anywhere near hot enough to cause a problem with melting.

    That makes sense.

If I bought Leather , I would have to buy either a half hide or a whole hide . If I used Pleather I can get it by the yard in perfect in perfect square cuts. Pleather is around half the cost of Leather.
