Anyone have any luck at local wrecking yards? I am looking to pick up OEM roof cross bars for my Q5, but never been to a yard before. Any help or suggestions would be great! Looking for a place in the greater Puget Sound area.

Q5s are still new enough that I would be surprised if many wrecking yards have them. Ebay would likely be your best source. You could try contacting Absolute German... I am not a fan of them personally, but they may have what you need or point you in the right direction

X2 ^ they may not be the friendliest bunch, but I've usually had decent luck with them. Then again, I was buying for 96 Jetta and my B6 A4.

Absolute German is a joke, but you can usually find some stuff there. Not a large place at all, so ebay might be a better option.

Thanks for the responses! I guess I overlooked how new the cars are and how there might not be many in wrecking yards yet. I was able to locate what I needed on Ebay, though! thanks again!

I was there yesterday. What few Audis they had were of the B5 era. Lots of VWs and Beemers though.

The guys at Absolute take a little warming up to thats for sure.

I've spotted at a couple different wrecked RS5s there over the last few months...totally caught me off guard. Kills me inside to see that!

    understatement of the year lol

I hate going in there and being treated like me trying to buy something from them is an inconvenience. Most industries are happy to have someone eager to come to their door with the intent of giving them money.

Alright, I'll tell it like it is then:

I do feel a little profiled when I walk in there straight from work. And yea they usually just stare at you like "The fuck do you want?" No greeting, just stares.

Bugs me when I have to explain to the 'part-remover-guy' exactly how to pull something because he was just picked up from the Lowe's parking lot that morning and they don't trust me to do it myself. Also bugs me that the guy who maintains their website thinks they are called 'Auroads' instead of Allroads. I shit you not. Go to school...learn to read man (and speak & write while you're at it).

I still try and be sympathetic because most the clientele you see walking in and out of there are shady af; trying to patch holes in their sinking-ship of an early 2000s S-class w/ blown airbags and a rebuilt title.

hahaha so true about Absolute. Worst customer service. Every time I go in there I ask what I'm looking for and dude just says, we may have an avant or whatever in there, go take a look. Then I'm just wandering and climbing around into cars, pulling my own parts. Probably not the safest thing.

When I went there last it was for a window regulator on my Ur car I had at the time. The person pulling the part had no clue what he was doing. So I was trying to give him advice to make it easier. He didn't take to my advice at all and proceeded to butcher other parts of the car to get it out.....
