I just picked up my new S7 and while its in the detail shop for Xpel, Opti-coat and window tint, I have been doing some wheel shopping.
The Audi upgraded wheels are OK (20" 5 Parallel Spoke S Design) but I found a wheel style that I think makes the car look much better- 20" 10 spoke symmetrical wheels. Simple, clean and classy. Soon after the new wheels go on I will have the calipers painted (red) and drill the rotors.
These are at the top of my list:
Vossen (VFS1) http://www.vossenwheels.com/wheels/vfs1
Rohana (RF1) http://rohanawheels.com/rflaunch/
Vorsteiner (VFF102) http://vorsteinerwheels.com/flow_for...-ff-102/#wheel
I have been through the Forged vs Flow Formed wheel decision process and I just can't justify Forged at 3x the price. I won't track the car and drive 8k miles per year.
According to the specs (on line) the upgraded Audi wheel that is now on the car is 20 X 9 with a et35. The front Calipers are huge and I suspect this will be my number 1 fitment issue. I am also going to buy new tires as well because the car came with Pirelli's. The new tires will be Michelin PSS's.
Here are my questions:
1) Because I am changing tires and wheels, if I go wider, now is the time. How much wider? This is more of an aesthetics issue for me than performance, however the engineers put 265's on for a reason. Thoughts?
2) And at what point does weight and less hp on the ground offset traction?
3) If an et of 35 will fit a 9' wide wheel, what ET do I need for a 10" wheel?
4) It looks like the best fit for a 10 wide wheel is a 285 tire, 9.5" wheel for a 275 tire and 9" wheel for a 265 tire. Is this correct?
5) What do you think of the manufactures above?
6) Any other fitment issues?
7) My wheels and tires will have about a 1,000 miles when I make the swap. PM me if you are interested.
Thanks for your advice.
