Unless someone really dislikes the styling of an RS7, wouldn't it be better for the cost and complexity, to just start with an RS7 and get a tune. I had a stage 3+ B5 S4, but the B5 RS4 was not available in the US and I didn't want a wagon.

    Just sayin'.

? Wonder if they want a five seater or prefer the styling of one over the other. and what is so complicated or complex with a turbo swap??? This isn't the same as swapping a VR6 with a turbo into the B5 chasis which is doable but complex. Nor is it like swapping a 2.7T engine from a S4 into a 1.8T car.

Lets not throw speculations out carelessly.

The price difference between the RS7 to the S6 is very significant and the s6 can be upgraded and them some with the cost savings.

I thought so but im a newbie so didn't want to assume.
The S8 runs some great numbers with a tune so i figured it had a better turbo than the S6

S8 & RS7 have a lower static compresion ratio, so they can run higher Safe boost levels than the S6.

Bmw m6 gran coupe runs same compression as s6 so thats not the problem. The s6 turbo is probably the culprit. Just by changing it to a stock rs7 turbo the car turns into a whole other animal

More to do with the larger turbos of the s8 and rs7 plus better gear ratios for excelleration 8sp vs the 7spd.

Are the engine internals any different from the S6/7 to the RS7? I am referring to pistons, rods, crank.

    Yes,
Basic differences are in the crank and crank bearings (larger main bearing diameter), pistons have a deeper dish in the crown, connecting rods, camshafts, exhaust valve material. Also AFAIK there is also an additional oil cooler. I'm sure this is not a complete list though.

Not sure how many people have done it, but I know of at least a few in the area running the kit. It's strong, and the best way to achieve the numbers you're looking for. Give me a call/shoot me a PM once you pick up the car if you want to run through the details!

Probably nothing unless you look at the Plus; then possibly.

I haven't found anything saying what's changed in the facelifted engines, but I remember someone here (I think it was someone from APR) saying that a lot of the engine part numbers in the facelifted v8 were different.
