    hood latch cable

    Help! My hood latch cable came off after a TB replacement, I did a search and have tried all the ideas, I can get a pry bar on the latch (were the cable hooks up) and try to push to driver side but will not move, ideas? 2005 A4

    Open the hood so you have more light to see what you are doing

    Its a PITA, mine did the same thing when I did mine. I drove it up on ramps and found a skinny bar and would just keep working at it from different positions and finally it came.

    You are pushing in the wrong direction. Push in the direction of the arrow (towards the riders side). It may seem counterintuitive since the cable normally pulls from the left.

    Where you are pushing is below the fulcrum point. Looking up from underneath the latch release arm top section where the cable attaches gets pulled to the left. The release arm pivot is in the middle of the arm so to move the top of the arm to the left you have to push the bottom of the arm below the pivot to the right.

    Thanks Old Guy! I was pushing the wrong way, Still can not get my head around why to push towards the pass side when the cable pulls toward the drivers side , I am old, Thanks!
