Just noticed a resonance (exhaust maybe) as the engine goes through 1000rpm.

Is this normal? never noticed it before though

My stock exhaust can be a little bit "boomy" at ~1000rpm when backing out of parking or reving to get car moving. 6MT

Mine is the same. Neutral rev to 1500rmp and let the needle drop it gets rough right at 1000rpm

    Think it's normal

The downpipes have been known to have some resonance. It's more noticeable with aftermarket exhaust in cold weather (IMO). I don't even notice it any longer but the first winter after putting my AWE on I noticed it at around 1200 rpm.

Cheers guys, weather has been a bit up and down here (UK) so close tolerances and that are likely to be the reason. Will ask my local tech to ramp it and give it a prod if it doesn't clear by itself

just had my downpipes replaced due to vibration around 1100rpm. tech said he could see the downpipes vibrate when under the car... fixed the issue

My tech thinks the cats are loose. Seems odd but I do trust him.
We know how much they cost....
Does it seem the likely problem?

I think I had the same issue. If I went through or held the RPMs around 1200, then there would be a bad vibration (much more so when cold out). Ended up having to replace both downpipes. It took a while to get the dealer to fix under warranty, but after they were replaced there was no more vibration. Not sure exactly how they failed, as there was no exhaust leak, but they were ultimately the issue for me.

Had the vibration issue @1000 rpm from day one of owning the car, fixed by replacing the flex pipes on both downpipes.

gave it a few more beans and there's a bit of a clonk around 3000rpm then the tweety bird sound at 1100rpm

didn't know the car wouldn't let you rev over 4000 in P or N until I tried it
