traffic tickets and how to beat them!

hi. I thought it would be a good ideal to start a new thread regarding speeding tickets window tint tickets getting pulled over in general so it can be discussed. as you may have already figured it out I got pulled over today for window tint and im tired of paying the city my money for something that is not even a moving violation but can still get your license suspended. I live in Rockford il and pretty much I want to make this thread where we can talk about our experience and if someone knows how to legally beat a ticket like providing first hand experience or information to help our fellow audiziners from having to cough up more money than they have to. well ill start, any help anyone can give me to see if I can fight this ticket

btw I made another threat in the general chit chat forum of the same thing, I decided to post this here because of where I live. anyone is welcome to open their own threat with same intentions and material on the other regional forums to better help eachother out.

First, let's establish if you were in fact breaking the law.

What percentage is your window tint? If I recall correctly, 35% is the allowable limit in Illinois.

indeed it was an illegal tint. but the law allows any percentages in the rear section of the vehicle if the two front windows are not tinted. ive heard of people that have removed them then taken pictures of the car and taking them to court and then I guess it gets dismissed. the fact is, it should not be a moving violation but rather and equipment violation. ive had 2 moving violations within 1 year and this would be the third. that is why I wanted to see if anyone has an idea I can present the court or anything concrete to show them that is not a moving violation so my license doesn't get suspended. the law does state that a legal tint is 35% all around or as dark as you want in the back section without touching the front.

According to this, the rear being as dark as you want only applies to SUV and Vans.

You should hire an attorney. Because "people on an Internet forum told me" won't hold up in court.

Get a Doctor to sign off on something to do with your skin needing to be shaded with tinted windows. Plenty have done it.

I think im tired and not focusing right but I remember reading somewhere in a gov website that as long as the front weren't tinted window treatment on the rear would be allowed. same thing the state police officer told me, he said if I take the front film off I will be in compliance and should have no problem. I believe there is truth to this because ive heard of ppl do it and get away with it. also im tired of getting attorneys. all they want is your money. every time I have hired one I told them that I did not wanted to get convicted or plead guilty of everything, next thing you know im in court and they hand me a guilty plea with a state "deal" if I sign it. so now I could have probably gotten that without an attorney I just spent $500 + fines on a damn ticket. im tired of giving my money away to them. if I can remember where I rear about the back section beign legal regardless of % ill post it up.

On another note. I called my tint shop to schedule an appointment for this coming week and they told me 20% minimum in the rear is legal with nothing in the front.

and I got 20% all around. so what im going to do is remove the front film and take pictures and present them to the judge and see If that makes a difference because I honestly do not want my license suspended. what shade are you going to get if you don't mind me asking?

I had 20% all around before and it gets really tough to see in non lit up roads.

Did the trooper who stopped you measure the % of the tint or just do a visual? If he didn't measure it, maybe there is some leeway there, coupled with the fact hat you'll have removed the fronts.

When this is over one option would be to go with 40% all around and then even when the factory tint is factored in, you'll be legal. Good luck.

q5 bob, he used the meter. he measured the back and front. he was a real asshole too talking to me or trying to intimidate me. then he proceed to ask me where I was coming from and where I was going. I refused to answer so he was was more of an assole then he let me go. lol

Good for you, I stand behind our police but just because you wear a badge doesn't give special rights. I've had officers try to arrest me over not answering unlawful questions. I now record all interaction with the police from multiple angles in my vehicles. GL with your case

I have had my car searched and my wife and myself questioned over nothing. for some reason the cops in my neighboring community are even bigger assholes and profile like there is no tomorrow. now, I don't answer questions to police officers and refuse searches unless they have a warrant. not trying to be a dick but I mean ppl get tired of beign harassed when all you are doing is trying to go home from work or the store etc, they pull you over for petty stuff and always treat you like a liar and always assume that you have something to hide. I don't have a problem with law enforcement but they should be respectful of their fellow citizens and show respect towards them as well instead of just beign assholes all the time.

I am still, all ears open to other ppl that might chime in on their personal experience. maybe I can use some of the methods they used in my advantage.

Try You Tube & look for "Eddie Craig". It will change how U look @ "Traffic Laws" & the citations issued under that premise. U may not B willing to go this far but some of this is in line w/what U already posted. He also has an On-Line Radio show on the Logos Radio Network & usually broadcast every Monday night @ 2000 hrs. a live show w/callers able to ask him ? about issues they've had & or are undergoing w/ revenue, ops I mean law enforcement. Just a thought.

q5 bob, not at all, I mean idk im like a cop magnet. I guess its the way my cars look man, they profile a lot where I live and in the neighboring towns its worst. I mean I look like most of us look. tinted windows lowered clean paint job. just the average. I don't know if they are paranoid about something or other I have no idea but man. not only that but this guy that pulled me over for window tint was a major asshole. talking to me like if I was deaf and he acted more of an asshole once I refused to answer where I was coming from and where I was headed. most of the time for some reason they want to search the car. im surprised he didn't ask me to this time. but if he would have I would have refused because he didn't have a warrant. ill peel the front ones and see what the tell me in court. And all true, but good luck trying any of it. This is a police state, even if you do win in court, chances are likely you'll be body slammed, tased, and have a large knee on the back of your neck

I'm letting my registration expire for sure. And I'm driving over the posted limit for sure (important to know reckless laws though since felonies are not exclusive to commerce).

I have had legalshield for a couple years after I got sued a few years back and it was a few grand out of my pocket just to be represented. I will use recording devices, this dude's tactics, and my paid-for legal representation to enjoy legally running my Euro plate in the rear only in IL. I'm kind of stoked about this.

If I get tased, it'll be on tape and that's an easy lawsuit. Again, paid-for representation makes this worth-while I think.

A few years back at a check point in the middle of the day (waste of time in my opinion) in some small town in NC, I got a ticket for my windows. In NC 35% is legal, the rookie cop sd it metered 20%, most of the time they let me go as I have a special "tricks," but she was unfamiliar with the Associations I am involved with and she gave me the ticket. I hired a local lawyer for $200 to get it "taken care of" with me faxing a receipt to the Court showing that I paid to have my tint taken off, not proof that it was taken off, but the receipt.
I faxed in a receipt and followed up a few weeks later and sure enough it was gone.
This is my tint, have not changed it...

I use my phone, and 2 cameras in the front and the back of my car. I got 2 small HD cameras off of ebay. Can't remember the name of them. They're fairly cheap and record on sd cards. I plan to get another for the rear window of my hatch to watch behind my car. In all the videos I've ever seen of police brutality and negligence, the worst always happens behind the car and out of camera view. I don't intend for any of that to ever happen, but, shit happens and if it does I'd like it recorded. I make these suggestions to every person I know.

Thanks, favorite of 4 VW's and 9 plus Audis. The 3.0 supercharged engine is insane, I am pushing over 450hp in this SUV, total sleeper. Done way more on this car than any other of my cars, never keep a car longer than 2 yrs and 40K miles, this one I bought in 2013 and I have like 92K miles on it. I absolutely love this car in so many ways, hard to explain, but it's great!

I only tell you this to be prepared you are battling a system that is not just corrupt but rig, and designed to stonewall you at every possible term. If you happen to spend any time listening to Eddie on his Monday night show he would tell you the same thing. You must be prepared and not just with one or two rehearsed objections when they try to railroad you, which they will do, and bamboozle you and frustrate you, all with the intention of getting you to submit and pay $, just to make it all go away. This is all about power and control, nothing else. they have it, they want to keep it, and will do just about anything they think they can get away with. Very few people are aware about the true nature of a drivers license. A license which is issued by the state is an admission by the receipient, that you are not otherwise legally allowed to engage in that activity. You are seeking the states permission. Please spend some more time either listening to Eddie,s show or perhaps purchasing his seminar. Again I am in no way affiliated but I would strongly suggest a great deal of preparation before you start down this path. They could impound your car throw,you in jail, beat the daylights out of you, anyone of a number of things. I would feel completely responsible if any of that happened and you were completely and totally aware and/or prepared for all eventualities. It's frustrating when you know that you are getting screwed by the system but this is truly a David versus Goliath circumstance . I definitely intend on looking into this more and will shoot you a PM. Watching some of the videos of people trying these tactics it is cringe-worthy how some people behave. Doesn't seem anything to get super upset over. I doubt many officers know of this viewpoint, no need to shout at them.

Seems to me anything they do outside the law while I remain calm just seems an easy lawsuit. Ideally they just let me go though...

@4rings get your ducks in a row, you'll be fine. Anytime I get stopped as soon as the officer is aware that I'm aware of my rights and our state law, they usually back off a little. I just assert them in respectful ways.

Just remember, we live in a state of semi-tyranny atm, so it's going to be alot easier for them to hang you than vice versa. Pick your battles wisely.

I had an unrelated (heated) conversation with my neighbor yesterday, he seems to think that it's the "humanitarian"(even though he couldn't even say the word) thing to do by (fb)cutting gun sales online/Nobama exec orders for gun control. It's (uneducated) pieces of......like that that are ruining what this country truly stands for. People like him that give the gov't the extra push to weasel their bs agendas into society. ^^^^ i completely agree with you about people like that. But its the media and schools that teach all of that. The government should answer to us and not the other way around. It is also because of people like that that our freedoms and rights are being stripped away and when you actually stand up for a right you're categorized as a criminal. I hate the people that say, if im not hiding anything or doing anything wrong why worry.
