Lightbulb LIST YOUR LIGHTS (Make, model, type, bulb out)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So there are a lot of threads for various lights etc... And when people ask questions you get the dumbasses that say "just search" vs. just keeping their ignorant mouth shut - since they have nothing intelligent to say or anything productive to apply to the conversation.

So at least for lighting sake, maybe we can have a threat where some of the commonly asked questions can be answered for the noobs to the s4 world. If you have upgraded your lights to anything LED or HID - provide the make and model of the lights, where you purchased them, if they needed any retro fitting, and if they gave you a bulb out error. Also indicate if you had to use a relay harness or something similar to stop the bulb out.

    1. Kind of light used - HID or LED
    2. Make and model number
    3. Where did you purchase?
    4. Did they need a retro fit? *Yes or No*
    5. Did they give a bulb out error?
    6. Did you need a canbus adapter/relay etc... to remote the bulb out? If so make/model
    7. Type of lighting upgrade - Turn signals, reverse lights, interior, doors, floor well, trunk area, etc...
    8. Make / Model / Year of vehicle...

I've done SOME LED's on my 2005 A4 Cabriolet. In a word, they are a P.I.T.A. Most all the interior lights are type 194 but any LED upgrades you find for that bulb are not the right thing, they don't fit the holder all that well. So I "rolled my own". You want the bulbs to shine in only 1 direction and everything I've seen is multidirectional and low output.

If I were to do it over again, I would make a little PCB and mount three of the 5050 LED's pointing 1 side that slides into the holder. What I did for mine, was use Proto Board and cut that to size.

Turn Signals and Brake Lights were less of a problem and there are LED versions of those out there. I also set mine up to FLASH 3x and then stay on solid for the brake lights. Of course you have to use Load Resistors if you don't want the Error Signal from the onboard Computer.

Well I just purchased the ECS Tuning LED lights for the tag lights and the entire interior.

    Master LED Interior Lighting Kit
Transform your complete interior in minutes with new LED interior bulbs from Ziza ES#: 2210291 Mfg#: B8S4LEDINT

    Trim/Moulding Tool Kit - 5 Pieces
Safely remove trim panels and mouldings easily without damaging them ES#: 517779 Mfg#: PHR-05s

    LED License Plate Light Assemblies
Keep your plate illuminated brilliantly with new plate light LED's ES#: 2210294 Mfg#: B8LPLED

I now am looking for LED Reverse lights and also turn signal lights if anyone has any pointers for that.

When you said they were a pain do you mean the fitment? Or were there other things to consider like the light dispersement etc? Kind of curious about that. ECS has never done me wrong and I hope they source out the best of the best... Cost maybe higher but I hope the get what you pay for stands true.
