    AccuAir and Track Days?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys!

Yeah, this is a question whose time has finally come.
It wasn't too long ago that this question would have been totally ignorant, but it seems like there have been such advances in technology and quality that it could be possible?

For dual-purpose vehicles; daily + limited track use, would you trust an AccuAir system to perform well - and last?
Is it possible to "tune" the "spring rate" on an AccuAir system? (Even if it's just once, when it's assembled).

    Thanks!

Don't think air honestly was made for hardcore track use. I would for sure think it can handle a few track days. I dont see why not. Pretty sure you can change how stern and soft you want to make it. @bknewtype should know or anyone with air.

def not made for the track. it doesn't have that "rail" feel you would find in coils. you can adjust the stiffness and softness if you wish, but ultimately, I wouldn't go get air just to track, its more for practicality, everyday use

I looked at air before I got rid the B16's but after speaking to many I decided to go with coils for what I wanted as I do track. It seemed it will be ok for track but thats it. There will be those that have air and tell you its perfectly fine because 1 video on Youtube says it is but thats it.

Based on what I found I chose coils. KW DDC ECU to be precise. Incredible system that I was shocked I didn't know about!!

From our experience their are other air suspension solutions that are plenty track worthy...

    There's two debates here:

    1) is air suspension any good for track use?
    2) will air suspension survive track use?

Forgetting number 1 as that's a completely different subject that I think Audi answered with the RS7 suspension options.

My concern would be the heat generated from the brakes and the rubber used in the air bag, they are both in close proximity and those brakes are putting out some serious heat, will the rubber age and deteriorate prematurely due to the heat?

Not sure but Audi will sell you a regular damper and Spring suspension setup with DRC as the performance kit. That tell you something about the air setup they sell as standard fit.

The damper is a huge attribute to how the car will handle with a proper air setup. Some cars work better than others with different combinations of air springs and dampers, but fortunately for us, most Audi's drive like a dream on air, and can be improved when upgrading the dampers. As far as durability goes, it all comes down to the parts used and the installer. We took a R8 we built on a 1500 road rally with 0 issues and kept up with everyone who participated. All while being able to take an terrain and look great when parked

We are taking a few cars to a private race track on the 31st of this month, will follow up with video and feedback in detail.
