Ready for the snow? (Those in the North East)

I will be going out to test the new B8 Quattro we just for 6 days ago. For the last 2 winters I have driven my Merc 4Matic and is quite good. Difference as I remember from my old B6 is that Quattro feels like a tank and 4Matic is very subtle. None of the two have let me down even in the worse conditions.

Here in JC, the mayor which happens to be my neighbor combined sanitation, public works and incineration and combined he has over 100 plows and salt/brine spreaders. That's a pretty decent number for a small city.

That is a good number for a small city; no doubt there. When I lived in MA, I swear they used F150s to plow 90, but invested in LED sign boards that advised of winter weather with a 45mph speed limit and did nothing to actually plow.

End of last winter I got a set of Continental Extreme DSW for my Mercedes and I had a lot of fun. I am not sure about the P6 which I think are stock

P6 is an all around shit tire, with a history of sidewall failure. DWS are OK when new, but once partially worn they are scary.

If you are used to older quattros, just be aware that B8s can be a bit more tail happy in the snow due to the rear wheel bias Torsen center diff. I miss my 87 4000 quattro, that car was a beast in the snow compared to the B8.
