B9 Audi Sound System vs B&O

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Did anyone have an opportunity to listen to Audi Sound System 10 Speaker in B9 A4 yet? Wanted to see if anyone has any opinions on it.

B&O is not available as a stand alone option in Canada and requires a $4,000 upgrade to Technik package. I know B&O is good, but hoping that Audi Sound System will not disappoint.

I have B&O on my car, and it is small disappointment. Bass is missing, no separate adjustments to sub. Sound is clear and very satisfying on certain mucis types, but sometimes not. 3D sound is also ok for certain music types, but more or less it is marketing trick. Compared to my previous aftermarket setup, this is not so good.

I had the regular Audi Concert system in my 8.5 A4 and that thing sounded like crap. The B&O system is much better in terms of sound quality but neither will sound better than a quality aftermarket setup.

Not sure what "Audi Concert System" is in US. Is that different from Audi Sound System in Canada? I have Audi Sound System 180 watt with 10 speakers in my '15 8V A3 right now and it sounds good to me.

I could have the name wrong. It was the basic, non-B&O system that came with the MY '13 A4.

Did you have Subwoofer, Bass, Treble, Balance & GALA controls?

Had all of that but I could never dial it in to a point where it sounded good to my ears. The treble was either lacking or too harsh and the mid bass was too boomy and muddied the sound. Trying to tune the mid bass down ended up cutting the bass to the point where it sounded thin. Sound quality is subjective and I'm picky when it comes to audio systems so I was never happy with it. The B&O system is much better but also has its faults.

I would go for the B&O. I have the usual Audi Sound system in my A5. Sounds like crap. My cousin has B&O in his A5, and it's alot better in every aspect.

I have the B&O in my S4 and it's absolutely pathetic (bass mostly), I added a aftermarket sub woofer to it to make it more enjoyable. In my opinion 4k isn't worth it, unless it's better than the B8. I had the Bose in my A6 C6 years ago and that was far superior to the B&O. Save some money up front and replace the speakers with components for a couple of hundred and add a Sub, it will be way less than 1k and far better than B&O.

The B&O in the B8/B8.5 platform was only 505 watts. The new B9 B&O system has 755 watts. Although I have not heard this one live, I'm pretty sure the bass response will be much better than what the B8/8.5 had. I say this because the B&O system in my S3 has 705 watts and has much better low end than my B8.5 S5 B&O had, so most of that additional power must have gone to the sub.

    just quick update.
It seems that system is getting better after 50 hours of listening. Bass is much better than at the beginnig. Ok, weather is also much warmer than one month ago ( - 20 C degrees vs + 3 C ), this must have some kind of effect to sound quality. As a summary, I love it ! 3D sound is also very nice. If you turn it off, you can notice the difference right away.,and most obviously, you turn it on again.

Audi Concert is the best damn sounding stock audio I've ever heard, and I've tested and listened to a lot of cars. You'll actually get better bass response/ control over your lower end if you choose to go with Audi Concert. Where Audi Concert will fall short of B&O though, is in the treble range which will provide your clarity in your music and give you that more immersive listening experience. So there you have it, that's the true difference between the two. And yes, there are more differences but those are the two most notable ones that you should base your decision off of.
