    Intake actuator question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So my car is spitting and sputtering and barely runs. It's throwing a P0174 code, I called JHM and they told me to try moving the intake actuator. It is completely frozen and will not move. So I am in the process of replacing that and when attempting to use a piece of wood to push through the plastic center piece it broke a piece off. What is that piece called and where can I buy a replacement?

not quite sure what you are referring to. Just seperate the top half of the intake manifold and the bottom half and clean all moving parts with like 400 grit sand paper, lube with good grease and reinstall. make sure to redo the upper intake manifold gasket while you're at it. If you broke something that needs replacement...ECS Tuning has the whole kit but its pricy. Can you post up some pictures of the broken part?

that end and the flapper are all one piece, and it is not sold separately. so the options are new IM, JHM IM, or find a used one to take apart

    ouch, that sucks.

The shaft has to be replaced, so the manifold has to be split, or the entire intake replaced. Hopefully the missing piece was recovered and not sitting in there somewhere.

Not sure what DIY you were using, but this is the one I followed for my Touareg and it went easy peasy:
