Question Wavy trim in my 2016 S4, is this normal?

Hey all, long time reader just starting to get involved in posting.

I have had my S4 since early November 2015, loving it so far. It's definitely a little heavier than my previous GTI and I miss the turbo woosh that made my care feel super fast, but Im definitely getting used to the linear power band, and even more so the all wheel drive. This thing drives like its on rails.... (bonus if you get the reference)

Anyway, I noticed what I think is a defect in the interior trim of the car, but curious if its just an unfortunately bad design by Audi. Hopefully you all can confirm.

Between the front and rear doors the plastic panel that extends from the floor to just under the front seatbelts seems to be, what I can only describe as, wavy along the base of it. I tried to take the best picture I could, you can see that it bubbles out in 2-3 places. Its the same on both sides of the car, but its super ugly and bothers the heck out of me.... Its almost like its not installed properly, but I dont feel any clips under the bulges and can press it down so it's smooth. I'm stumped.

Is this normal? Before I bother with the stealership, I just want to see if anyone else has this....

As a side note, You guys are awesome.... lots of great knowledge on the site. I just did sub install with the help of a few threads from this forum. Great stuff.

    Cheers

    Pic did not come through.
But - that plastic trim is not the highest quality... If it's under warranty you can probably get the dealership to swap the trim with a new one... no big deal.

The picture is not loading. I can check my car once I know the specific part.

GAH! Sorry about that... dropbox error.... Should be able to see it now.

Yep, I can take it back and get it replaced if it's not normal, definitely still under warranty. I just want to prepare an argument incase they tell me its a "characteristic" of the car.

Mine is flush. You certainly have a gap there. Honestly it's not a big deal but I understand - it would bug me also... won't be much for them to swap it out and you should not have to make a case out of it. They will look at it and see it's not flush.

I just looked and my trim also has that pattern, but less wavy, and sits flush against the carpet.

Thanks guys, Ill bring it up at my first service. I don't anticipate any problems, but who knows. When I had my GTI, in the first 1000 miles it was rattling like crazy from under the car at low RPMs. The dealership swore up and down that it was a characteristic of the car, and refused to look into it. I did one google search on it and found a TSB which I made them do. Problem solved... sometimes they just dont want to do work.
