I have a 2016 S7 with the factory Sport Package. I would like to understand the difference between the standard S7 exhaust system and the Sport exhaust. I can see that the standard system has a rear muffler on each side with a single inlet pipe and dual outlet tailpipes. The outside tailpipes each have a flapper valve that is normally open and only closes when the V8 is in cylinder deactivation mode(4 cylinder) to reduce buzzing. My Sport exhaust system also has a rear muffler on each side with dual tailpipes. The outside tailpipe on the passenger side has a flapper valve (normally open) similar to the standard system however, there are no flapper valves in the driver's side tailpipes. There is a flapper valve in the single inlet pipe to the rear muffler on the driver's side only.
The sound of the Sport exhaust is slightly louder than the standard system at idle, noticeably louder on hard acceleration, but equally quite at steady cruising speed. The sound from the driver's side tail pipes is much louder than the passenger side. Switching from "comfort" to "dynamic" mode in Audi drive select does not seem to make any difference in the sound outside however, it does seem to be slightly louder inside when in "dynamic" mode, probably because the noise cancelling system is switched off.
My questions are: 1. Are there any differences other than the rear mufflers? 2. Is the passenger side rear muffler the same as the standard system? 3. When do the flapper valves function? 4. Does "dynamic" and "auto" mode change anything in the exhaust system or just turn off the noise cancelling?
I have not been able to get these questions answered at the dealer(sales and service) or the central Audi technical assistance phone number.
Does anyone have this information or know where I can get it?

I have a 2016 S6 with the Sport Package, and I'd also like know the difference. I do notice that the exhaust sound is noticeably more aggressive with the car in Dynamic versus Comfort mode.

I would like to know the difference, and also know if I can replace the standard exhaust on my 2014 S6 with the sport system, which was not available as an option back then.

Your questions are valid and quite frankly this is an interesting topic but nobody is responding.
There is an incredible amount of knowledge out there and no doubt one of the regulars has the answers.
Hey guys toss in your 2 cents.

    Thanks.

I remember reading in a different thread that the active noise cancellation is for tuning out unwanted frequencies as the engine goes from v8 to v4 mode. Does not affect the exhaust note you hear in the cabin. I have assumed that the valves in the exhaust are more "active" in dynamic mode. I don't seem to hear as much of the crackling and popping on downshifts in auto like you do in dynamic. I could be wrong.

Sorry but can't help you on the other questions.

I'm interested in this as well. At the time when I ordered my car, no one could really explain what the sport exhaust was really going to be or how it was going to work. When the car finally arrived there was still no clarification. I'm sure you will get a solid answer here shortly.

I can't help with your questions, but here's a picture of the sport exhaust for those who haven't seen it.

I would really like to know.
Sports exhaust is not available here in Japan and I'm really interested in retrofitting if it's a minor modification.
