My first step would be to dis connect the battery let it sit for a couple minutes then check it.

Mine does that periodically. It usually comes back on after cycling the car on and off or resetting the mmi with the three finger salute.

I am not 100% sure of all the wiring, my manual is in my car which is outside and its cold. Anyways, check the manual and see if there is a separate fuse for the amp/speakers, if there is it might be blown.

    1. Check fuse.
    2. Check battery health - it may be dying on you.
    3. Try hard reset. Press and hold for 5 seconds or so then release.

Mine does this periodically as well. The MMI screen is responsive but there is no sound produced from any of the inputs (iPod, radio, phone). Pulling the MMI fuse on the passenger side box does the trick.

Really strange but I've encountered something similar today...

Turned the car on, came back after it warmed up and heard a loud high pitched shrieking noise (car was set to SiriusXM)

Odd sound, figured it was bluetooth connectivity or something... cycled through AM/FM and there was no signal.

Restarted my car and the MMI several times and it did not go away, drove to the dealership on the way to the gym and when I made an appointment I came back into the car turned it on and it was gone and have not encountered it since today.

    Strange stuff.

If you get water on the amp it can short and cause this same problem.

Happens from excess solution when tinting windows far too often

Yes, i encounter this too...and did the hard reset many times and didnt help.

Off the car and start next day. it was gone.

it was a dam loud high pitched sound which has blown my front door speaker.

bring to dealer, cant find any fault code.

Yep that describes exactly what I experienced, hopefully the last time.
