    Rear cross member question

    Hi All,
Looks like the prior owner/shop left off the below cross member piece when putting on the Milltek exhaust, vs doing the ole' stack some washers to still make it fit. It's proving hard to track down the exact part number (believe it's 460-803-183-A) without having a real life picture of the part to compare against. Can anyone share details on this? Pic? Thoughts on how much of it is structural vs just protective? Other?

    Thanks much,
    Per

    I believe it should be a "G" not a "6"
    4G0-803-183-A

Looks like it is about a $50 part brand new.

If it is structural, then it is likely too late and any damage that could be done with it missing has already been done.
My guess is it is probably there to keep the driveshaft from hitting the ground if it should break for some bizarre reason.

    Cheers, guys.
Yes 'G' is it. Seems mostly protective, agreed, and perhaps in either direction: drive shaft coming down, 'stuff' coming up from the road. Nice spacers from AWE; might see if I can get just those from them.

It is in no way structural, its nit hurting anything by not being in there.
