So i have the front brakes from my A6 V8 donor car that i want to install on my A4 when i do my V8 swap. i was under the impression that the A6 V8 and B5 S4 front brakes were the same, but when i look them up, the rotors have different part numbers. can anyone help clarify the differences?

the Stop tech rotors i am looking at are

    C5 A6 V8- 126.33065SL

    B5 S4- 126.33096SL

The V8 front wheel hubs are 6mm wider than the standard V6/S4 hubs. This means that the rotor offset must be larger to accommodate. If you want to use the S4 specific rotors, you'll need the front wheel hubs from a V6 or S4. If you have hopes of further upgrading the brakes in the future you'd be better off with the V6 hubs.

If you want to use the A6 hubs as they are in the uprights, you'll need the rotors specific to the V8 A6 and S6. The pads interchange with the S4, Allroad, and sport versions of the A6.
