    2009 Q7 MMI Blackout

My MMI recently started with all light lit on the console and subsequently got stuck on just CD. Now it just goes to black and nothing plays.

I've tried resetting/rebooting the unit by pressing SETUP, BIG CENTER KNOB and TOP RIGHT BUTTON at the same time. It looks like it resets/reboots as the Audi MMI screen shows up but then again goes blank a few seconds after.

We may spilled something on the MMI controls though it was wiped quickly and we had just washed the car days earlier.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Given the spills, water damage on the MMI controls. Also common to have a BOSE amplifier water damage issue due to failed/leaky sunroof drain in the right rear, near hatch. If those check out ok, also check the bluetooth module under the front passenger seat and Radio/SAT Radio in the same are as BOSE amplifier. Could also be the MMI control head.

You can diagnose fiber optic breaks using a MOST bridge/tester to cap off each module at a time: http://parts.audiofalexandria.com/pr...52d802%29.html

If you have VCDS you can also run the optical bus diagnostics: http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/optical-bus.html

Most common I encountered are definitely MMI Controls and BOSE amp.

    Hope this helps.
