Exclamation * HELP SQ5 hits fuel cut at 4,500 RPMS? *

So this started about 2 weeks ago when in manual mode and shifting myself. In first and second gear mainly, rolling on the throttle then punching it the car will jolt violently back and forth as if hitting fuel cut. This happens around 4,500-5,000 RPMS which is well before redline.

Long story short I took the car to AUDI and they say there are not fault codes but they were able to replicate the problem. They have no idea what the problem is and are telling me to uninstall my intake and exhaust. I know it is neither of those as they have been on the car for over 8k miles. Has anyone heard of this before?

Looks like I will be removing my intake and returning.

    Sigh... Audi

I'm curious what the outcome is with this issue. I can't see how your exhaust would cause this but I am curious as to whether or not the intake was the problem. Plenty of people run aftermarket intakes with no issues. If you get nowhere with your Audi dealer then I say find an independent shop like Eurocode.

Sounds somewhat like a clogged fuel filter or problematic fuel pump.

I"m curious as well as to what is the cause. When you get it figured out, please share the culprit with us.

There is no way the exhaust or intake are causing you to hit the fuel cutoff limited, that is just a lazy dealer trying to push off a long diagnostic process to the customer. Audi is prob like other manufactures in that they don't pay much for diagnostic time, most of the domestics only pay the shop for 1hr of diagnostic time then they pay the book rate for the repair once the issue is found.

Thanks for the support guys, I removed the intake last night so I will keep everyone posted. I thought my dealer was mod friendly but apparently not. This really bothers me because the car has thrown malfunction codes for Audi Side Assist and Rear Latch as well. It almost seems like there is an electrical problem. The car always seems to fix itself, but has a mind of its own when it comes to the electronics. I wonder, did I get a Lemon?

I was afraid you were going to say that. That's where I bought my SQ so I was hoping they'd be a bit more mod friendly.

Bingo. With the only addition that - should they have to escalate and ask for engineering help from Audi - the first question they'll be asked is, "Are there any aftermarket parts installed?" I know it's a pain, and it's at least remarkably unlikely the exterior plumbing goodies are related to the problem, but it is a valid first step. Good luck with everything - I hope there's a happy ending.
