Serious Question About RPF1's, getting lots of conflicting information.

I want to run RPF1's. I have stock brakes.

GetYourWheels says there's no brake clearance issues with 18x9.5 et45 redrilled from 5x114 to 5x112, but I don't believe they've ever actually tried it. Likely just based on knowing the range of sizes well.

My local tire guy is in contact with Enkei and they say "RPF1 are not a good choice due to no brake clearance. 9” and wider have a flat face so the clearance comes from the mounting pad."

However, all around the forums I see people running the 18x9 et35 fitment with no issue clearing the stock brakes.

Enkei recommended the PFO1 in 18x9 +45, but they are 2 lbs heavier, which completely defeats the purpose...

Is there really a difference between these fitments that will prevent the 18x9.5 et45 (5x114) from clearing the stock brakes while the 18x9 et35 (5x112) clearly does? I don't want to have to try to return custom drilled wheels...

Brake clearance has absolutely nothing to do with offset. The spoke design of the wheel is the only thing that matters. So, you can't compare wheel X in an 18x9 +35 or wheel Y 18x9.5 +45. You need a template, take measurements, or test fit the wheel.

Trying to compare wheel X to wheel X in different width/offset. I was hoping someone had some experience with these wheels to say yes my 18x9 fit with room to spare or yes I've seen the 18x9.5 and they look similar to the 18x9 in terms of clearance. I have no interest in the PF01s, just mentioned that as an aside.

also, FYI, you can use wobble bolts from 5x114.3 wheel to 5x112 hub.

Thanks so much for finding that! I think I'm just gonna go wobble bolts and call it a day! That way if for some strange reason there are unforseen clearance issues I can still return them!

Well I had a single wheel sent to my local tire shop for a test fit. It seemed like there were a lot of posts talking about the fitment, but they all had one thing or another that left me not 100% sure the brake and suspension clearance was there.

The wheel is an 18x9.5 et45 RPF1. I could only hold it up since this one was not drilled to 5x112. Stock brake clearance is ample; there were just a few mm clearance in the front on the suspension side of things.

Tire selection will be key. Do it!
