    :: ECS Tuning :: NEW!! ECS 2-Piece Direct-Fit Brake Rotors | Audi B7 A4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!

Light on weight. Long on looks. The new ECS Tuning 2-Piece front brake rotors combine the natural advantages of a cast iron braking surface with the weight savings and rapid heat dissipation of an aluminum hat.

Cast iron-gray and durable matte black hats create an eye-catching contrast that accents painted calipers behind open-faced alloy wheels.

These beauties have all the extras: black anodized hats, cross-drilled and slotted brake faces, and unlike OEM, directionally vaned rotors for better cooling and heat dissipation over stock.

    Features include:

    • Aluminum hats: To save weight, each rotor ring is bolted to a lightweight aluminum hat made from high quality 6061 aluminum, and hard anodized with an attractive matte black finish that is both durable and corrosion resistant.
    • Gray cast iron rings: Long known for its wear resistance and stable friction characteristics, cast iron is favored for brake rotors due to its ability to absorb and dissipate large amounts of heat.
    • 2-Piece construction: Conventional rotors are unable to cope with the stress of drastic heat fluctuations and are prone to warping. ECS 2-Piece semi-floating rotors allow the radial expansion of the rotor ring - preventing warping.
    • Heat treated: Heat treating further reduces the tendency for rotor cracking by reducing internal rotor stresses.
    • Directionally veined: ECS 2-Piece rotors feature directionally curved veins, directional veins accelerate air away from the rotor at a higher velocity, leading to consistent, rapid cooling on both sides equally.
    • Drilled and slotted: 2-Piece rotors are cross drilled to promote cross ventilation for improved cooling as well as slotted to clean brake pads and carry away water and brake dust. Cleaner brake pads result in faster, more consistent stopping. Drilled holes are chamfered while slots are machined with a ball end mill - both to prevent cracking that may be present on improperly machined rotors.
    • Overall weight savings: This particular ECS 2-Piece rotor weighs only 17.2 lb compared to a stock rotor (22.7 lb). Lighter rotors reduce unsprung weight and rotational mass to improve both braking and suspension performance.
    • Includes ECS Stainless Rotor Set Screws to eliminate rusty factory fasteners

These are stock sized rotors so there is no increase in brake torque if that's what you mean. Being that these are 2-piece rotors they are able to cope with radial expansion of the rotor ring which prevents warping. These also have internal directionally vaned channels which offer greater cooling abilities which in turn can give you more consistent braking.

Nice. Good price point. Plans to have rear rotors as well to match?

Good news is we do have 2-piece rotors that are compatible with the Q5 calipers so you always have that option ;)

Unfortunately we do not have plans for rear 2-piece B7 A4 rotors. We do have B7 S4 rear 2-piece rotors if you want to do a conversion.

We haven't seen enough demand in the market to convince us we need to have them available. Our drilled and slotted rotors believe it or not are very robust. In my years of working here I've yet to hear of our drilled and slotted 2-piece rotors fail because of the drilled holes. I've seen them get heat fractures from guys who track them, which can happen to any rotor drilled, slotted, or full face if it gets hot enough, but yet to see a rotor ring fail like the many pictures you can find on Google image.

We do have slotted GEOMET one piece rotors available if you are set in stone and only want slotted.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. Just contacted ECS and they informed me that the rotor rings are not available separately from the hats for their two-piece rotors?? What gives? Kinda defeats the purpose of two-piece rotors if you have to buy entirely new rotors every time they need to be replaced!

Anyone know of a source for custom rotor rings that can be made to fit ECS or other manufacturer's hats?

For those interested in a light weight rotor and braking upgrade, I have a new never installed Stasis/Alcon kit for sale that utilizes a 349mm rotor with the stock caliper and includes the brackets and Carbotech pads.

Instead of offering rings, we offer complete new rotors at a discount. That way you don't have to deal with properly torquing everything during re rining. Clearly, my sales guy failed to explain this if you remember his name I'd love to belittle him for not knowing house product.

Thanks for the info James! Not that your sales guy necessarily needs belittling, but in the interest of helping others get accurate info, his name is Andy P.

What is the discount that is offered? Do you charge a core deposit for the return of the old rotors? Please let me know how it works. The rotors in question are the 18z compatible 352mm rotors.
