    RSB Technical Bulletin - Anyone?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I had read on the S3 Owners facebook page about their being a TSB for the RSB. I took my car in because I was hearing a "clunk" on bigger road irregularities. I thought it was coming from the front, but they're saying its in the rear.

Anyway, did a forum search and didn't find this topic.

Anyone have similar issue? Get this, they actually said the part might not be available for a year!

Had mine "fixed" a couple weeks ago. Definitely the rear end and while not a big improvement, better than what it was. If I could do it over again, I wouldn't have gone with the mag ride. Dealer had to order new mounts from Germany which took a week so if you're hearing up to a year and if you're getting this obnoxious noise, I feel for you.

Does RSB stand for something other than Rear Sway Bar? If so...just upgrade it and ask the dealer to cover the labor time and you'll provide them the part.

Interesting, I had a "clunk" or "knock" type noise that also sounded like it was coming from the front of the car and only in similar road conditions. My driveway is a steep grade and when I turned left to go up the driveway it made the noise as the car hit the grade. Surprisingly, since I installed the Eurocode rear chassis brace several months back, which noticeably stiffened the rear of the car, the noise is basically gone - I've only heard it once or twice since and it's much more muted so I kinda gave up on it.

I actually thought it might have been the passenger side engine mount that was wearing prematurely from nearly 10K miles on a tune; I did the engine mounts and rear chassis brace at the same time. If it is really coming from the rear sway bar it would make sense that the shared load on the added chassis brace has reduced the noise.

Well I guess the good news is, I have those same parts, plus some, sitting in the garage. But an RSB mounts the top of the rear shock to the rear strut tower. I could see how some chassis bracing would dampen the noise though. We'll see.

I have been experiencing this knocking noise for a long time now. Yes it is very misleading and a lot of times I think it comes from the passenger side (B and A Pillar) but when I position myself to the center the noise clearly comes from the rear. What is also very interesting is when it is raining outside the noise disappears. Does that mean bushings get wet and sorta stop making the noise? Anywho please share with us what this TSB exactly does (part and labor wise) and if you had a warranty issue because of aftermarket sway bar.

Anyone have the actual RSB or TSB reference number? My ride is currently at the dealer getting the Camshaft Positioning Sensor replaced and since its there I might as well mention it to the service advisor.

    Thanks
