Research and my questions for the ones that know. Piston Rings & oil comsumption

I am an old member and have been away for the last 2 years as I flipped my B6 for a Mercedes Benz C63 W507 but now my wife for a B8 CPO in fantastic condition. Prior to buying this vehicle, I was looking for a decent deal and there seems to be a lot of B8 that in the Carfax reflect that around 35K to 38K the piston rings were replaced. Is that in response to the oil consumption on this model or just coincidence? I found like 4 same model 2009-2011 with the same repair about the same time.
    Just wondering.

If you happen to come across a white Merc with black spoiler, black wheels and dark tints and the plates says THE SITH, is me. Sign to me to pull over.

From my experience with my 2009 A4 that went through both stages of the oil consumption fix (Burning through a quart of oil in 550 Miles) I would stay away from any 2009-2011 B8 regardless of whether the car is a CPO or it had both stages of the oil consumption fix. Many owners that had the oil consumption fix done found that their cars were never the same again. In many cases the oil consumption issues came back even after the fix. After I had mine done, a few months later I was diagnosed with a larger issue (that likely related to the OC fix) where they wanted $8-10 K to replace the engine. Just my $.02 but I would look at MY 2012 or newer.
