    When to replace coil packs?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm about to hit 90k miles and my coil packs were last replaced around 20k. Would it be beneficial to swap in some new coil packs? Would this restore any performance, fuel efficiency, or provide an improved idle?

Check them, if they look crappy or are an old version then yea replace them. If not leave them alone. As long as your plugs are getting decent contact from them you're okay.

They definitely should improve all the above only IF your current ones are that bad. Like the above poster mentioned, check them. You're not getting any misfires yet, so thats a good sign.

If I were you, Id go and buy them to have them ready when you need them, especially if you're at 90k. They along with spark plugs are never a bad thing to have in stock.

I would not replace them until you begin getting misfires. Regardless, purchase some coil packs, so you are prepared. I carry a couple in my trunk :)

I keep 2 extras in my trunk just in case. Seems one or two take a shit at least once a year. I have 80k miles.

As long as your vehicle is not missing and it runs strong I'd leave them alone. Though it would be a smart idea to pick up some spares to keep in your glove box. In the event you have one die attempting to limp it home can possibly cause more damage.

I'd be more concerned about the health of your spark plugs.

You should send those to audi and have them diagnosed, somethings wrong with them.

I would replace them and keep the old working ones as spare instead.
