    Trunk won't open

About 2 weeks or so ago my trunk (B6 A4 Sedan) started to act funny. It wouldn't open with the remote or the drivers door switch. But after playing with the buttons on the remote and the switch it opened. Each time I need to open the trunk I pray to all the gods that it'll open and it's opening less often with each coming day. I don't know if it's in valet mode, but I'll check tomorrow. However I have been able to drive at any speed and I understand valet mode doesn't let you go past 65? When it does open, it opens fine (no strange speed or noises), but I almost expect it not to open anymore as it never does. I'm considering paying someone to live in my trunk and pull the emergency switch inside when I knock. I'm also a big guy so it's a massive pain in the ass to have to dive into my trunk on my college campus whenever I need to access my trunk. Any suggestions are appreciated. I also saw some people mentioned heat being a factor.. It's cold as bawls where I live. Thanks in advance folks.

The actuator is broken. You can open the trunk by twisting they key to pop it.

This^^ There's a slot for the key right on the side of the "pop" button on the trunk lid.

You guys are great. I didn't even know there was a slot for the key on the trunk lid. Thank you!

I fixed my weak actuator by opening it and cutting about half of the return coil spring. Careful when you open it, parts can fly everywhere.

Sounds to me that the latch actuator, connection rods and latch are corroded. Remove the trunk liner and spray the actuator and connecting rods and latch with WD40.

Same issue I had for the longest time. I ended up replacing it and its been running fine ever since. I don't have part number on me right now but I can provided it later if you aren't able to fix it first.
