Clutch related - is this possible?

Is it possible to have an oil leak at the filter, draining down onto the pan under the engine, and somehow getting into the clutch from driving? I'm talking a lot of oil leaked - like full filter amount. Possible?

Oil leak like that can drain down and look as if its leaking from the clutch area. But as far as leaking down and then back up into the clutch isn't going to happen.

I had an oil leak from the filter housing because the o-ring did not seat properly when I reinstalled the filter housing. It drained down to the belly pan and ultimately dripped out onto the driveway. I do not see how it could get into the clutch area, though, as the bell housing of the transmission is bolted to the back end of the engine and there is, I believe, either sealant or a gasket at that flange interface which should keep out any foreign liquids or solids.

i had an input shaft seal leak that I noticed on the belly pan & driveway & mistaked it for oil but it wasn't a ton and I doubt that's your issue.

seems more plausible the rear main seal is leaking.
