    Hey B5 community,

My flex pipe went for second time in arrow with in 3 years so I got fed up. I ended up buying resonated milltech 2.75" cat back and 034 Motorsports HFC. I also bought APR intake tube and Turbo inlet pipe because it was on sale, saved about 200 bucks with that combo. I am going to be installing these items very soon when I receive everything in the mail. My question is how much horsepower and torque will I gain on this setup? I have 01.5 1.8T which I believe is on stock tune. I might not because I bought the car with forged diverter valve and copper plugs. The car could of been returned to stock so I have no idea....

//Not a whole lot. Maybe 10-15 in each? Someone who is more educated/knowledgeable will come along and be able to correct me I'm sure.

I've got a stage 1 tune, 034 HFC, Borla catback, Carbonio intake, and Tyrolsport SMIC. Next weekend I will be be putting my car on the dyno, I'd be happy if it puts down 175-200 awhp.

Also, good luck getting the APR hoses to fit. Waste of $200. APR support has been less than helpful and is telling me the sale is final even though neither hose physically fits on the car.

Buy a boost gauge!!!! Best 60$~ you'll spend on the car.

You'll gain a bit but unless you get it tuned you will definitely not be taking full advantage of those parts. Should definitely sound nice, 'though.

Key thing being no tune or stock tune. the mods will only net you maybe 15 more but you will see better spool and hang on to the boost a little more on top. If you really want to feel a change after you get everything installed and the car is running nice. Get a stg2 tune from whoever you like and that will be a real 35-50 hp tq gain based on how healthy your car is running. stock ecu will not care about the mods it wants to see X amount of timing and edit 11 psi ect. AWM I smell a Motoza tune in your future lol.

As I said, more knowledgeable people will chime in. Keep in mind with it being an AWM and CH box. You should be running 11psi stock.

Awh man! Don't scare me now! Is it possible that you got a bad batch of hoses? I hope they rectify the situation with you. How recent was your purchase?

On my way home I was thinking about this. The car feels stronger than 11psi by my butt-o-meter. Then again the air was really dense (18*F) whenI was playing with a C6 2.7T on my way home.

I agree with you 100%. The car has about 170k on the odometer and majority of its life is all highway miles. Still plenty of life left in this ole gal lol.

This area is a little gray for me. I have no idea what tunes are the best and who has the best representation in aftermarket tuning scene.

Right on! Thanks man. I will be happy with a stage 1 or 2 with supporting mods.

Email Ian at reflect tuning (kompresd). He's a wealth of information. Plus, his tune only cost 250$ shipped and it comes with an ecu. You won't have to send yours to him.

Or try something new. I wanna see some reviews of a 1.8T tune by Daz. From what I've seen in the S4 sections and on NefMoto, he does some incredible work.

It's $50 more for his Stage1 tune. But from what I've seen in reviews of his S4 tuning. It will be so worth it.

I have to be very careful with what type of tune I get because I have tiptronic transmission. I know they are sensitive to a certain amount of power. I have to do a little investigating because the car pulls very hard when its not heat soaked. I dont know if I'm boosting at 11psi or more...When I started doing maintenance I found 007 forged diverter valve and Copper NGK's that seen better days. It might have a old school stage 1 tune on it.

buy a boost gauge then worry about all this other stuff. an oil pressure gauge is also a great idea and a good $50 investment.

I don't know how much the tip trans can handle but like you said I have heard that its more sensitive than the 01a

Email flash tuning can be had from Dave @ motoza pricing is not bad and if you every make changes he can easily adjust your tune for any mod big or small. Just another option.

Thanks I am reading his testimonials and tune page. I really need to get a boost gauge. That will be my next mod after the hardware is installed.

Ian@reflect tuning (k0mpressed on here), Daz Dillenger, and Dave@Motoza all essentially do the same thing, custom tunes. These guys will have a chat with you about what mods you have and will setup a customs file for you. Generally speaking, until you've gotten a buffet of different mods, these tunes won't be hardly any different from someone else's that only has exhaust work. Later when/if you've done more mods, you call em up and get an update. The price will usually fall inline with how much upgrading/updating has it needs to be done. However, very rarely will you need to purchase an entirely new tune.

Where as Unitronic, APR, REVO, et al, have put together a few tunes with some of the most common modifications. They'll provide some information regarding what they refer to as "stages", expected gains, and recommended upgrades/mods. After that, they simply copy the appropriate file to your ecu (typically by mailing it to them unless you visit a local dealer). To move to higher stages, you'll need to follow along with what mods they've written the tunes for. They will do a custom tune but for a muchly premium price.

Just some info for you to separate some from the others...

With that setup it justifies a stage 2 tune of some kind.( you gain the most with that ) If your transmission is healthy you should be good.

Well, i wont be dyno'ing but i will head up. Couldnt get the driveshaft rebuilt in time. It was acting like it was going to pop through the floorboard the last few times on their dyno and Nate/Christian dont want to run it.

Where can I get vagcom and supporting hardware? The transmission I believe is in healthy shape because the fluid was changed recently with a new filter and its shifting great. I will be happy with 220-250hp at the crank.

Exhaust is installed. Initial thoughts are that the power band is a lot smother part throttle and not twitchy. When I get on the gas wide open throttle it accelerates effortlessly. The battery wasn't reset so the car is still learning the new mods but after a couple drive cycles it should be back to normal. My only complaint is that tips hang way to low from rear bumper of the car. This picture doesn't represent it because my flex pipe wasn't installed yet. Any suggestions?

The exhaust note is superb and it has a exotic German deep rumble to it which I really like!

You can buy shorter hangers for the rear section of the exhaust. See if that helps.

I was looking on ecstuning.com and it seems that this car has 3 exhaust hangers. Do you know which brand sells the shortest for the rear?
