Shifter issue-hard time getting into reverse

I am having an issue especially getting into reverse. its near impossible most times. the car does have a short shifter, UUC I believe but am not positive. If I turn the car off, it typically can get into reverse and through gears. It seems to be the most difficult when the car is on and I'm trying to reverse into somewhere. I have tried messing with the adjustments on the shifter assembly, but to no avail thus far.

Does anyone have any thoughts or heard of this before? Thank you.

May need shifter adjustment (setting angles in the car - JHM's shifter install describes it).

Or, reverse was occasionally hard for me. I would put it into 2nd and then it was easier getting into reverse.

It's most likely how you have it adjusted, given that you can find all gears when the car is off.

The PO of my avant had installed a UUC short shifter and it was nearly impossible to get the car into reverse.

After a ton of time trying to adjust it to get it to work I said screw it and went back to stock.

No issues since then. And maybe you can find the sweet spot. . .

I just wanted my car to work.
