    MAF Harness shorting out?

I'm having pretty bad cold start issues. Sometimes it can take me 5 minutes of 30 second cranking intervals and a few stalls to get the car started. Usually the colder, the worse it is. Vag com pointed at the MAF sensor. I went and got a used MAF sensor to see if it at least changed the DTC. I cleared the DTC, installed the new sensor, and ran the car again. The DTC for the MAF sensor(along with a fuel system either lean or rich, can't remember) came back and nothing changed.

Today, I decided to do a little test for the MAF sensor. Starting the car and then unplugging the MAF to see if the idle changes at all...nothing happened. While I was doing this, I looked at the harness wiring...I noticed two of the wires are exposed and slightly burnt. I understand that I need to swap out the harness and a little of the wiring, but is there a fuse or anything that may have popped when these wires(may have) touched? I doubt that just throwing on a new pigtail is going to immediately solve the problem.

I would suggest replacing the pigtail.
