RS5 Manual Mode automatically gear up

In December I took my car to Audi 3 times for the same problem and called AoA 2 times in regards to a transmission issue.
Transmission issue: Knocking between 1 - 2 Gear and 2 - 1. I also had an issue in which in manual mode the car will now gear up for me randomly within 5 - 20 minutes after start-up

In January, I bought it to Audi 1 additional more time before they did anything. They updated my transmission software but when i asked them in December, there was no such update for my car.

I just passed warranty when i got the car back but my shop is telling me that I can bring it back to Audi without paying anything for a reoccurring issue.

I was wondering if any of the other RS5 owners have experience some issue like this.

The gear up is normal until the engine warms up.

The knocking does not sound normal.

Can you elaborate on the knocking? At the point of gear change / single or multiple knocks / when at normal temperature or cold / sounds similar to... We enjoy playing car-problem-charades, sometimes someone wins!

I wonder if he's referring to a rough shift when he says "knock".

Do you RS5 guys ever experience a harsh 2-1 downshift? I know that was somewhat common on the S4s...

Yeah it happens on the RS. I rarely manually shift all the way down to 1 because of it.

Sure, 2-1 is just what you'd get from a normal manual if you were heavy with the clutch, loading/unloading in the drive train can make noises, not mechanically sympathetic at all.

@zhclvn, looks like you went three years before this came up so it doesn't sound as if it can be normal. The knocking could be other suspension parts, like a control arm bushing which is stressed a bit more when the loading/unloading of the drive is occurring on a 2-1, even 1-2 is a big torque transient.

More so during D mode, you can feel a dun-nk after coming to a stop. I think it is something to do with the DSG but it has happened less now after the software update but it is somewhat annoying.

Ok, just for you I did many 2-1 shifts on my drive home tonight. Apart from some being a little jarring at slower speeds, I had no mechanical noises, the rev matching was surprising good at higher speed 2-1. Certainly nothing except a tiny push feeling when coming to a stop (If you want something jolting and jarring try the M3/M4) Back to the dealer for you for a ride out with the best tech and get agreement it's a problem, good luck.
