Door opens when car is locked?

Soooo I just realized today that when my car is locked I can still open my rear passenger door. No idea where to begin searching for the fix to this problem, besides of course removing the door panel.

Any input on where to look for my solution?

Symptoms:
- I lock the car, am able to only open the passenger rear door. All other doors remain locked.
- the door handle feels a little hard to pull and it sounds like something is crunching behind it

Can you lock the door at all ? Do your light flash and or car beep when locking your car with the remote (I'm guessing there don't )?

In had similar issue when I first brought my car

The lights flash and the car beeps and the door still opens. And when it opens the interior lights don't turn on

How strange, I would of thought that it wouldn't of flashed and or beeped since that door is not locked.

Can you lock the door with the interior switch ?

Give that a try, will tell you if you lock actuator is fucked. Mine was and its an easy / cheap fix.

I could however lock the door once I popped of the little grommet next the the locking mechanism on the side of the door . inside of that grommet there is this white little knob you can turn with your key or a flat head ...once I turned this I could close the door press lock and it would lock .

Can you manually lock the door with the key? (pop the little plastic cover off on the edge of the door, turn key).

And do you have VCDS? You can check the door status and operation of all the switches. It seems like the car thinks the door is in a locked state when it isn't.

Alright I will definitely try popping the grommet off and turning it. Is that like a reset more or less?

Yeah that is the same cover. I believe there is a little lock icon there also. I'm getting ready to go to work, I'll shoot a quick picture of it for you.

Hopefully it's just our door lock actuator that's fucked, I think it's strange that the alarm is still triggering even tho that door does not lock

Well that kind of makes sense since the car thinks its locked since allowing the alarm to go on in the first place.

Do the footwell / interior light switch on when you open that do ? Does the instrument cluster display the door as being open at all?

I will have to test all of this. I haven't driven the car in like 2 weeks but I'm sure it doesn't light up/ use the foot well lights or puddle lights

Either a damaged door harness or the lock actuator/mecanism is failing.

If the door opens but the alarm doesnt go on I would probably say door harness.

Btw I have 3 rear door actuator/mecanism aka door latch if needed

I fixed my door, it was that white knob lol

I turned the white knob to the right and the door locked but it wouldn't unlock, only would open from the inside... Any more thoughts?

Yeah that would happen.

Does it unlock and lock with the lock switch in the car by the drivers door ?

If the car isn't reading the door as being locked (say your lock actuator was screwed) then it was constantly keep try to relock ALL your doors when going over around 10mph every single time (traffic lights, stop signs, parking lots etc) which is super annoying.

I feel your car is reading that the door is locked but it isn't (lights flash and alarm chirps) ...that would lead me to think your harness is screwed. :-/

The car is reading it as locked because it doesn't keep trying to lock it and when I click the lock it doesn't change
