Need help on my wipers. Don't know what else to look at.
The wipers do not stop where they have to be. They will stop at any random spot, I would have to keep turning on and off around 5 times till they stop down. Other wise they work fine.
This has been happening for Some time but it has been getting worse.
I have swap the wiper relay with a working one from a friends car.
I have clean and grease up the wiper arms.
Neither one of these made a difference, what else could it be?
    Thanks

Sounds more like an issue with the wiper stalk switch. The contacts might be worn enough that they often loose connection and the arms loose all power or something. Or an issue with the power supply for the wiper motor dropping out. Seems like an electrical issue is what I'm getting at.

I was thinking it might be the stalk but the part is $200 and I didn't want to just change parts on a guess. Is there a way I can take it about and maybe clean it?

I believe so but am not positive. I think I saw a guide somewhere about doing it.

At the base of the stalk there are bolts under the cap if either of these bolts are lose your wipers will have a mind of their own

I'd still lean towards a relay. It worked for me

But, I heard and electrical "click" coming from the relay cluster in the foot well. This prompted me to test the relay. I pulled the one out of my wives Jetta and boom! Problem fixed. I even have my intermittent wipers back which I never had before.

I grabbed a used Relay #377 (4B0 955 531A) from a pick and pull. And have had trouble free operation since (knocked on wood). I believe the subsequent part numbers B,C,D all have different relay #'s. I also believe these are prone to failing and are different for "Pulse" wipers.

Not sure which Part # you have/tried. But try a #377.
