    Preventative Maintenance Advice - RS4 Near 100K

I am about to return from overseas and I only had a couple of weeks with the car before I left. I have a couple weeks once I get back to get the car squared away and ready for a long trip from the midwest to the west coast. I am looking for advice on what I need to check out or change at this mileage prior to a long trip like this from people who have owned an RS4 for a while.

Some back story on the car:

    Brakes/Carbon Clean done at 85K
    All Fluids changed at 85K
    Manifold Replaced at 85K
    Aftermarket Coil Overs/Sway Bars
    Spark Plugs changed at 97K

I put a couple thousand miles on the car prior to leaving and noted two issues.

Small Oil Leak - Back of Motor (I think. It may have been caused by an installation error with the oil filter (Shop Installed - I had no Tools) but I have not had enough time to see if I am still using Oil since I changed it myself. The car used about a quart and a half of oil on a 1000K road trip. Car used none on a 450 mile trip after I re-installed the filter.

Sticky Clutch - I blame this on the known issues/my lack of experience with the car. The clutch would stick to the floor or close to it if driven hard but would still engage/disengage.

Oil and Batteries will be changed when I return. I was thinking about refreshing all the cars mounts (motor/trans/diff) once I got back as well. Any help with the two issues or any advice on anything I should look at would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.

Oil can be a number of things but if I had to take a quick guess I'd say PCV valve.

The sticky clutch is a long winded problem with not much conclusive evidence, at least in my research. However, those who have experienced this issue primarily noted it under spirited driving conditions. In 2008 Audi updated certain lines in the system, I cant recall the part numbers (hopefully someone can chime in) for the "tubes" as Audi lists them. Also USP sells an upgraded metal slave cylinder some people have reported positive results by replacing these components.

Mounts and bushings are always a good idea, Powerflex, Stern and Mayle HD sell tougher than oem replacements. I would also like to ask the community, if I buy/install adjustable control arms what bushings are left that can be also be replaced not including motor/tranny/diff and lower control arm. I too would like to replace all the bushings in my RS when I acquire it this upcoming week.

Hope that helps a bit, and thanks in advance to those who helped out in this thread.

I would do the following, based on not seeing them mentioned in your post:

    Fuel filter
    Air filter
    Fuel injectors
    PCV

For the sticky clutch, I would just have the clutch & flywheel replaced with an aftermarket option. The OE SAC is garbage.
Go ahead and do the slave cylinder and rear main seal while you're in there.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I will be looking into replacing the PCV Valve for sure and see if that helps with some of the other issues. Anyone know of a cheaper replacement than an OEM one or is this part something you should stay with the OEM one on? Is there a way to test the injectors prior to replacing them?

Also, I will most likely be upgrading the clutch soon so I will be replacing all of that stuff as well while I am in there now. Just want to make the road trip and get a Daily before I dig into the car that far.

. You can rent a fuel injector testing tool kit from Autozone, also consider having your injectors rebuilt to save on cost if they are faulty.

How is a PFI Tester able to test a GDI Injector? The proper way to test the Injectors if your able to have your car down for a few days is to remove them and have a shop with a ANSU machine clean them.
