    Shimmy's E-code markers and new Osrams!

    Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Had some time to day to install my euro markers and Osram CBIs.

    First, I coded out the side markers.

    Disable amber corner lights
    [09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 10
    Submodule 0
    Bit 3 - Set to 0 to disable amber side markers (U.S. vehicles)

    Then onto removal of the headlights and side markers. I followed this DIYer. These lenses were much easier to separate than others I've done. Just take your time with the heat gun.

    Where did you find the ecode markers? Would love a pair of these to replace my vinyl wrapped markers.

    I've done a few retrofits and these separated pretty easy. You just need to take your time with it. Its really common sense. Our headlights use a butyl glue/rubber which softens and melts easily under heat. It basically acts as the "seal." Other car companies may use "permaseal" which is a type of cement that actually fuses the headlight lense to the housing. The "permaseal" bond can only be separated by cutting.

    How are the new OSRAMS? I need to change out the wife's RX-350 since they appear to be inferior to ours.

    I used a heat gun to open mine. Wrapped them in silver carbon fiber. Took about 2 hours or so.

    I've used that method a couple times. Its definitely faster, but way more risky. For our headlights using a heat gun works better IMO.

    The silver carbon is perfect! I actually have a small sheet of brushed titanium di noc I would have used if I hadn't found these euro markers.

    Euro markers is where it's at. I tried to source some, but got fed up with the search and wrapped them. If I find some, I will switch them out. Totally changes the front end!

    Yup, swapped the OEM Phillips for these Osram CBIs. They are a 5000k bulb instead of 4300k OEM color. The color different is subtle, but definitely noticeable. Its a whiter color and from what I see lumens is the same as what Osram markets.

    Do these CBIs have more output? I've been happy with my Blesk bulbs from HIDConcepts but am very...bi-xenon curious.

    They have the same output as our OEM Phillips bulbs at ~3400lm-3500lm, but they are a whiter light.

    Keep in mind that higher color temp with whiter light will also refract more light back to the driver in fog, mist, snow, etc. compared to the OEM lamps. This may or may not be an issue depending on where you live. As noted they don't give you more light output. I prefer to stay with the OEM rating of 4300K or perhaps 4500K. Shimmy, please post back when you have had some time with these in Seattle.
