    2014 GIAC S8: 0-60 (vbox)

    Good Morning,

I have a 2014 GIAC S8 and absolutely love the car. My wife got me a Vbox for christmas and had a chance to use it for the first time. I plan to go to the track tomorrow and wanted to try various launch techniques. I think I have it nailed down.

The care has GIAC Stage 1, USP Intakes, mid muffler delete, and lightweight Velos wheels. As some of you may know, the air here in Vegas doesn't always lead to the best performance, but the car runs strong. This is on the race tune.

    Take a look!

I ran the car several weeks ago and the car ran an 11.27 at 122 mph in upper 60 degree weather, bad DA, and an absolutely full tank of gas. It is cooler now, will run lighter, and hopefully the DA is better. I think I can get her into the 10s tomorrow.

Damn that's fast. Is that with launch control? I couldn't imagine the stress on the driveline with all that power

Yes, with launch control. TC in sport mode. The last time I was at the track, it pulled a 1.75 60 foot time which is incredible for this size car.

I see you did a "mid-muffler," delete. I was just reading over on the C7 forum a member (on his 2014 S6) did a mid-resonator delete. Was yours actually the resonator or was it the muffler? And lastly what's the difference between a mid-muffler VS mid-resonator delete - which one is better and sound better? Thanks!

I cannot recall exactly if it is a resonator or a muffler. I can tell you that it sounds MUCH better after removing it. I replaced the central muffler with straight pipes. You can actually hear a "quiet" rumble of the V8 in the car now but it is certainly not loud. I like to hear the engine.

Did you make it back out to the 1/4? These are better results than I expected from GIAC. All I could find were some not so impressive dyno results...not enough to make me choose GIAC over the well documented APR results. At the strip I ran 11.18 @122 on 93 and 10.95@126 on 100 with APR. But sounds like you are right there as well.

Not yet. The open track times and my schedule haven't quite matched up the past several weeks. I am guessing very similar numbers to what you have on race gas with similar DA. Vegas typically sees DA around 2500. I feel for the Colorado and Albuquerque racers.

I wish Audi built this thing with folding rear seats. My daily driver S6 sees me using that feature far too often to lose it. Otherwise, I'd be all over a S8. What a machine!

I was starting to look for an S6 but coming from a MBZ S65, I think I'm leaning towards a S8. Check out Audi Club Las Vegas if you can. I wouldn't mind seeing your car in person either....
