We definitely need more info than that. Year? Engine? Intake details? Do you have an idle air control valve or is your throttle cable in adjustment?

That's my mod list. I actually just recently bought it and didn't do any of this to it, so I honestly don't know that much about it. It's a 2001 a4 1.8t

Sounds like your throttle body needs to be 'calibrated.'
Try this although you may need a shop with dealer-level tools like VAG-COM:
    1. Disconnect battery for 15min (don't do this unless you have your radio code or an aftermarket headunit)
    2. Reconnect battery and wait three minutes.
    3. Turn key to ON without starting engine
    4. Wait three minutes again
    5. Start your car and see if it worked

You might also want to see how dirty your throttle plate is and consider cleaning it. If you do clean it you should do the same adaptation again.

    I second the TB adaptation.

also, i have never seen that method ever actually work.

someone with VAGCOM can do it 5 minutes.

if you have the Maestro cable, you can also do TB adaptation and monitor measuring blocks with maestro, on any car whether its inked to that cable or not.

I was wondering if the maestro software would be able to recalibrate. I'll give that a shot. A fellow Audi mechanic who's a friend of mine, also said the front o2 sensor could be the cause of it too. He actually owned this car before me and did all of the mods himself so he knows his stuff

The car ran perfectly fine all summer, and just recently started acting up. I get horrible gas mileage now too. Do you still think it needs a throttle body adaption, since it ran fine all summer and just now started doing this? That's why I'm wondering if it is a front o2

Only comes up with a serial link communications error, and that's due to the software. It's known for throwin that code for no reason

Just perform an adaptation and find out. It doesn't hurt anything. When you perform that adaptation, also clear DTC's (whether there are any present or not) to reset fuel trims.

Well it's fixed. Turns out the o2 sensor, throttle body housing and plate, and IAC were all covered in a black sludge due to neglect from previous owner. Running like new now
