    Armrest lock fix "free"

    Hey guys,

Recently took my 14' Q7 TDI in for service and asked them to take a look at the armrest lock not functioning. They tell me the only way to fix it is to replace the entire armrest, parts and labor $750.00 usd. I decide to explore the issue myself.

After opening the armrest this is what I discovered. An "L" shaped metal spring held by thin plastic... wtf was Audi thinking in engineering this so poorly? Something that will have so much use in it's lifetime and they hold it in place with thin walled plastic.

Check out the pictures below where the plastic broke on the 2 pressure points. I put the broken pieces back with gorilla glue and then applied plastic epoxy all around the "spring holder" to make sure the pressure doesn't break anything ever again. Put it back together and so far so good!

    Question 2013

Is that the "double" bin? I have a double decker lid, top half is 1/2 storage, with lid & latch on left, cup holders on right. I don't see any evidence of screws to get to the latch... Seam between parts is very small... maybe an upholstery trim tools to pry it apart?

I'm curious about this too - want to fix my wife's busted console latch this weekend!

Thought this would help because I followed the video and it was better then other videos encourage you to bend the hinges in and risking you to snap the hinges!

I was searching ages for a tutorial video and I think this covers everything.

What part of the video was helpful for the Q7 lock? It's not the same center console arm rest, so not sure if I was missing something.
