Exclamation Audi 3.0L V6 TDI Owner Credit Package Discussion

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So Audi sent me an email last night...

Looks like we are in for some restitution for the TDI debacle.

They are calling us in for a software modification. I assume we will be looking at a reduction in power over this...

Anybody else get one of these letters?

    Dear XXXXXXXXXX,

I'm writing to you because you are the owner of a 3.0L TDI vehicle that is impacted by the emissions control device documentation issue I spoke of in my previous letter, dated early last December.

I promised on behalf of the Audi Canada team that we remained committed to maintaining the level of trust and customer excellence that first brought you to one of our dealerships. It is very important to me that Audi Canada maintain its commitment to provide our vehicle owners with relevant information as soon as it becomes available.

The technical solution required to address this issue is in development, and is projected to be an uncomplicated software update. You have my assurance that, as soon as it is approved by regulators, we will contact you with information about the required fix for your vehicle.

Audi Canada will soon be offering an Owner Credit Package to recognize your patience, trust, and loyalty which is truly appreciated by the entire Audi Canada team. The Owner Credit Package will consist of the following items, which will be provided at no cost to you:

    • An additional three years of unlimited km roadside assistance coverage
    • Complimentary coverage for two scheduled maintenance intervals
    • A $500 prepaid card redeemable towards the purchase of goods or services at an Audi Canada dealership

You will receive a separate communication in the coming weeks with details outlining how you can register for this program.

If you have any questions, please contact Audi Customer Care at 1-800-822-2834, or by email to [email protected].

    Best Regards,

    Daniel Weissland
    President

I go one. I've got another note from them weeks back, they said update will have no performance impact.

I am going to contact Audi, nice gesture but I bought Audi Care, so two free services doesn't matter and I just bought roof bars and fork mount for my bike. So two of those 3 offers don't do anything for me. Doesn't really seem like they thought through the service offer for those with Audi care. Maybe they have a plan for those who inquire or will do something for me.

Ya I have Audi Care as well. Maybe I can get them to cover the steering rack I had to replace for the second time instead. It only had 22000 on it. That's a whole other story though...

what a joke. Porsche gives an extra 2 years/80.000kms warranty. Audi should have done the same.

What are the Audi and VW TDI owners in the USA getting, something similar, or better?

    From VW side
USA gets $500 prepaid visa card to use anywhere and $500 towards services / parts to use at vw dealers only, total $1000
    plus 3 year road assistance

VW owners in Canada are getting the same as USA

funny is that we have to make a appointment to the VW dealership of our choice to activate the cards, can't do it over the phone or online..

as far of regards to first post , the software update that will come will not effect your performance , if you have adblue tank in your vehicle this will impact the usage of the fluid, basically you will have to refill more frequently that is all to it..

This would have been nice since I will be needing a second battery replacement as well as a recent second steering rack replacememt. ALL JUST OUT OF WARRANTY...

So I asked the question on quattroworld and throw it out here...

I could see a loss of value if the vehicle wasnt using adblue as there will be a compromise that will affect either one or both mileage and power.

With the engines that is using adblue, consumption will be higher and a cost to the owner, what would be that difference? I'm assuming that power and mileage remains unaffected. And how much of a difference will that be on depreciation?

So the only negative here is an increased consumption of Adblue which translates to an increased cost of maintenance. Not a major cost to the consumer really. Makes me wonder why they couldn't just deduct the cost of additional Adblue from the 3.0 TDI service schedule?

That's what I was thinking also, though maybe the EPA hasn't signed off on the fix for the 3.0TDI. If I remember correctly the issue was when the engine was cold and emissions high until things warmed up, so the amount of Adblue being used could be higher during this time frame.

I dunno, it seems that VW/Audi's been singled out here, I wouldn't be surprised if other gas/diesel engines have a higher amounts of NOx and what not until the catalytic converter is at the right temperature.

I thought I read somewhere that Mercedes and BMW were being looked at as well...

I think there was a magazine that leaned more towards VW stirring up shit but nothing ever came out of it. MB has stated again that they meet all emission requirements and said that again at the Detroit autoshow. Haven't heard of any investigation going on with MB. Renault is currently being investigated.

They have been single out for one reason, they kept this problem for too long, if it was 1 year or two this could off be resolved easily , now it is over 6 years EPA has case to hold VAG hostage until they do show the fix for emission control system, VW/Audi will try to present all alternative fixes until EPA says yes, so far first alternative to replace with modified catalytic converters failed on 2.0 engines , and nothing yet on 2.0 and 3.0 that uses adblue tank , looks like EPA will wait until first issue is resolve before they go to next one, last week I was at the yard port and saw half lot filled with all the 2015,2016 models of VW/ audi / Porsche TDI returning from dealers lots or those that arrived from factory... I have feeling that probably by end of summer we will hear the solution, I have feeling some cars will be bought back those that do not use adblue tank
