    Swapping Used Stock ECM questions

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Swapping Used Stock ECM / Part revision # matters?

I need to replace the ECM on my 3.2 due to P0106 Baro sensor(F96) inside the ECM went bad. Computer reading found F96 at idle(measure block 113) requested 1000 mBar but actual only 902 mBar which range discrepancy over >80 will cause MIL ON

Stealership quote whooping $1900 OTD. I lookup youtube there is DIY how to easily swap it out, and there are plenty used matching ECM on ebay.

    1. Does part number must matched including the revision letter ex: 8E0910559A (2005.5) vs 8E0910559J (2008), both design for B7 3.2L just different manufactured date...

    2. Will Audi do the reprogramming/transfer soft code from bad ECM to the replacement Used ECM ( I will paid labor hour) ?

    3. If Audi won't do it, how to retrive the Secret Code so I can try with VCDS?

    4. What Immobilizer version is on B7 3.2 and is it harder to adapt even with the SC key?

I don't have any tunes or coding that I'm afraid to lose, but definitely don't want to hack cluster to risk bricking the whole thing.

    thanks all

For the parts I would normally recommend europa parts. They're a forum sponsor here on the east coast. Since you're out in the north west though, I have to recommend hitting up Jeremy at Matrix Integrated. He's always been great to me and they're located in Portland, so they can probably get you the part quicker.

You mean MAF sensor right? MAPs are for turbocharged cars so they can read intake charge pressure for the turbo.

There is a MAP sensor on the 3.2. If the shop scanned your car with VCDS they should have given you a different fault code rather that a p0xxx fault, such as a 16490 fault. If that is in fact the fault it could just be a vacuum leak, or loose intake tube etc causing the fault. It could as well be a faulty sensor too. If you want to replace the sensor the part # is 03C906051F. A brand new OEM sensor from the dealer is $80 or so, and it's 2 bolts holding it to the intake so a shop quoting you $300 seems pretty high to me.

As stated above, the 3.2 has a MAP sensor. It does not have a MAF sensor and operates on a speed/density style tune. MAP stands for manifold absolute pressure. While the 3.2 does not operate in boost like a turbo car does, it most definitely will operate at varying levels of manifold vacuum depending on throttle and engine load.

I finally located the MAP sensor on my 3.2L, right under the plastic center cap cover.

It has a code reads : 0 261 230 095, while the current MAP sensor have newer part # as below. So i guess my MAP sensor is pretty old and needs to replace. Found a seller on Amazon selling for $30 shipped http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BJLGYOU

    Bosch #: 0 261 230 234
    OE #: 03C 906 051 F
