A few questions

I have a 98 a4 1.8TQM, I am looking to cross the 300hp threshold, Can anyone post a link on a recommended build? I would like to run the K04 turbo instead of dropping the money on a garrett since this will be mostly a winter car/ back up car for when my DSM decides to die again. I have a 105 miles round trip commute so i would like to be conservative with gas consumption and reliability. Any help with be awesome.

Also my trunk decided to work just fine for a week or so then one day went to open it and all it does is push in. If i put the key in it and push it in and turn to the right it locks and do the same but turn to the left it unlocks, just doesn't open. Any idea?

Anybody know what the max tire size/ rim size combo i could use without throwing my speedo off? I live in a rural area and the cops can be real assholes so I watch my speedo constantly when driving around my town.

Has anybody punched out their cat and run the spark plug non foulers to trick the computer into thinking there is a cat? I live in Upstate ny and emission laws are strict, I heard from a friend of mine that you can do that to keep a check engine light off.

If anybody can answer my questions that would be great, Thanks in advance.....

You wont reach the 300hp mark with a K04 or even Frankenturbo upgrade. I believe its highly possible with an eliminator setup.

The tire size, I would find a tire calculator online, enter in your stock size, and play around with another size to get it as close as possible.

Ive got a 98 as well with no cat, and I had no o2 fault using 2 o2 spacers for the pre cat sensor. I later removed the sensor so I could run an Innovate Wideband since I didnt have a 3rd bung in the exhaust.

All of these could have really been answered with a bit of searching, but I was bored and decided to help out.

Most fun for few bucks go Franken turbo, as said before but will not net 300+. But still puts a smile on your face and drives close to stock but much better power. I have a build in my sign, of a elim 2860. That's the smaller side of BTs that sees just over 300 when set up right. Do some research lots of good info here and we will answer questions the best we can.

This is from our B6 friends but numbers and specs are almost the same. Other tuning options for everything else should be the same.

Unless you get a deal just go gtx still need rods for both. I got a super deal on my 2860 that's why I went Elim other wise would have went full frame gtx or efr

Not doing rods with a gt2871r elim.

You will only see 80% "safe" with out running risk of windows in the block.....Be sure to get a good tune.

It'll probably be fine at 100%. I will find out someday.

Thanks everyone, My plan for the summer is rebuilding the trans, swap the clutch and flywheel. The start on the motor, crank, rods, pistons, valve work etc. From then on ill be looking into turbos...... To hold me over has anybody punched their cat out and ran the spark plug non foulers?

i cut my cats out because i had exhoust leak and replaced it with a straight pipe but i have not got spacers yet
